IMO they dumbed it down. I don't mean to suggest this version might not appeal to a lot of people, but as the
showcase for the new 72,000 bph movement? Really? And at a price tag of $20,000? Really?
The original Type XXII, which evidently was never released, was a step up from the Type XXI in appearance IMO. The actual production model is a big step down from the Type XXI IMO.
I was "this close" to pre-ordering a Type XXII just one year ago, but opted for the Type XXI. I would have been royally POed waiting an extra year and then seeing this watch.
