H2F it looks like you have bigger wrist size than most of us. And that pam you are wearing just proves it. I think what most of us are saying is that if you can pull it off than go for it. But in my case I feel that maybe some of the pieces i have chosen will not be so pleasing to me at 50 since I am 32 right now.

However (and this kills me to say it) had a chosen some pieces that were smaller in size and classic designs (maybe a rolex perhaps) i might grow into my style as oppose to growing out of.

That's an interesting perspective because the implications (to me) of that post are that you would rather buy something that you are less comfortable with now on the basis of evolving tastes.

Now I'll freely admit that I may have completely misinterpreted the comment, but I think it's important to be comfortable with what you have today. I am very much in the minority here by not selling watches, and if you do 'grow out of' a watch in the future you can always sell it and replace it with a Rolex or whatever appeals at that point. In the meantime you have the enjoyment of a piece that you can enjoy today.

It may be a change from your original thought process of buying a watch that would stay with you forever, but it's better (in my mind) than buying a watch that isn't really you today because you think it will be you in 5, 10, 20 years.

Just my 0.02.

i wouldnt say less comfortable just making a choice that is more timeless as oppose to just right now. For example at one point when i first started with this whole thing (and i even made a thread titled obsessed with 48mm watches or something like that) I honestly would turn my nose to anything that was below 46mm. Lets be honest....that just shows how immatrue and retarded my thought process was. But this was due to the fact that at that moment in time larger (in my mind) was better. now as things have progressed a little my tastes have changed a bit and seeing that i cant keep up with the trends of watches due to financial reasons IMO it might have mad more sense to pick pieces that were more classic as oppose to what i liked at that moment.

i still like what i own right now and i dont think that i can part with the watches i have (probably cuz im to cheap to take the hit) but i can almost say without a doubt that i dont think that an SA at 45 will have the same sparkle to me as it does right now at 32.

edit for spelling.

Fair dos, but who knows what your financial situation will be at 35, or 40 or x when you look at the SA and think - "I don't want this any more". Will it happen - quite possibly, but the only certainties in life are death, taxes, and the fact that there will always be another watch out there that you really need
