I can honestly say that I have never seen a watchmaker use a knife. On one occasion I saw one use a case opening knife - which isn't really a true knife as it is blunt because the fork on his 6767F was broken, but other than that they always use a spring bar tool - and most seem to prefer the pen style rather than the caliper style (that compresses both ends at the same time).

anyone have any ideas where to purchase the tool because a search of manhattan's jeweler distributors has left me empty handed.

They are tough to find in stores. Best bet is online.

6767-F is the fine tip. 6767-S is the standard wide tip.
