Hi

My names Ian and I am looking to buy my first Breitling after years of staring at them through the jewellers window.
As I like big watches I have decided on either the Super Avenger or the Skyland.

What I am confused about is the difference between the two. On the Breitling site The black faced Super Avenger and black faced Skyland look to be identical is the only difference between these two watches the size?

Also from reading posts on this forum I see that the Avenger Skyland is just going to be called the Avenger is it just a change of name?

Any other info on buying my first Breitling will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ian

The bezel on the two watches is also different.

Either one you buy will make you happy. If you don't like the bigger SA on the wrist then the Skyland is perfect. I suggest you try them both on at the same time to see the size and weight difference.

I believe the new Avenger version have chromed colored numbers/markings where the AS has the white numbers.
I have the AS and it's a great watch that looks good on SS or OR strap. It's pretty chunky. Try them both on and see what you like.
Welcome to the club!

I own the Super Avenger. It's my least favourite of the three Breitlings that I own. As another poster said, it is chunky and can be uncomfortable on my wrist. That being said, once I put on the rubber Ocean Racer strap or the woven steel bracelet from the Chrono-Matic 49, the comfort level greatly improved (for me).

I also bought the version with the numbers on the dial (white face). If I were to do it again, I wouldn't buy this same dial. I think the numbers make it look (dare I say it) a little cheap. The "markers" in place of the numbers would suit me better as they make the dial look a little cleaner (IMHO).

Feel free to flame-away, folks. I'm expecting it on this forum...

I own a Skyland, but if my wrist could pull off an SA, I would have bought one instead. With batons, I think its the perfect diving watch design. The face, pushers, crown, bezel, dial layout (w/ batons) and colors, curve of the lugs, pro II bracelet...perfect. Its just too big for me. Second best (imo) is the skyland. Its still big, but doesnt look ridiculous on me, and its SUPER easy to read.

The Skyland is just called the Avenger now, and the numbers are no longer white, but silver metallic. You can probably still find either one though.

Why do you say that? I think this is by far the friendliest forum I've ever come across....... :huh

Anyway, back on the topic -

@ the OP - The other guys have already outlined the differences between the Skyland and the SA - size, bezel and slight dial difference - but ultimately only you can decide which you prefer. I own an SA myself and it fits just fine : very comfortable and I forget it's there after a while. But you may find it different on your wrist.

If you want to examine the visual differences a bit more, check out the fitting site on the Japanese web site (no Japanese required!) - http://www.breitling.co.jp/fitting/ - but at the end of the day there is no subsitute to just going to try them both on.

My statement was too harsh. Not everyone was to be included...

I will never buy a watch with numbers! Baton markers win EVERYTIME for me also

Oh for crying out loud - we all know that you are referring to me - so have the guts to say so.

If you want it, here you go:

Grow up and lose the persecution complex. You accuse me of attacking you in every post because of your flame attack on T&G (and yes there are two sides to every story) and conveniently forget one simple fact that I think everyone on here should know..........

After your post about T&G I was prepared to buy the Breitling book for you through my contact and ship it to you before receiving any money - I was prepared to finance it myself. You turned the offer down and paid more because you couldn't wait a few days for shipping.

If I have it in for you as accused then why would I do that?

If you want to attack me further use the PM button and save everyone else.

Now, back on topic......

I am not a big fan of the Super Avenger, I don't see it as being anything standout besides the size and I don't want a watch just because it's big. That's a minority view on here, but it's my opinion. I do have the blacksteel Avenger Skyland because it is different from anything else in my collection - I wouldn't have bought a regular Avenger Skyland (or the Avenger - essentially the same but as noted an update to the numerals) for the same reason that the SA isn't for me.

But that's just me.

Nah, we've kissed and made up (you were nice to me in another posting about DeploymAnt and it got me a little misty-eyed...) Have you seen the movie "I love you, man?" Well, I don't love you like to two main characters in the movie but you are a good guy on these postings and certainly know watches. "I like you, man" That's our movie. Let's not share that with anyone else... It's our movie.

Now, like you, I really don't care too much for my SA either any more. I do however like the black SA. Maybe I should sell the SA..??? I don't know. I would trade for a Navi World...

Super Avenger every time if you can pull it off.

Gotta say i'm not a fan of the renaming of the Skyland. And even worse, the dial change.

Much too similar to the SA. Its now like the 'girlie' version for those than cant sport the SA's size.

Thanks for all your comments. I do like the size of the SA, I think I will have to try them both on and see.
Thanks
Ian

its all upon how you carry yourself (super avenger)... irrespective of your height or weight.... in my opinion i love SA...... coz its the second name for being manly ..... or you can put this way being rugged... and rough... that defines SA to me... ultimately its your choice buddy... go to the AD wear them both and taKE your girl with you she can give you the best choice....  best of luck....!!!!
