And street prices support that - huge discounts to be had.

I know George has like 15 different Graham models in the specials section on their website, all of which are at least 35% off. I'm sure the sale price is even negotiable.

Exactly why I picked one up... they are hugely discounted these days :) Been wanting one for a while. I don't know how much decoration or anything goes into the movements of these watches, but really, they are not much different than Breitling a couple years ago I don't think. I believe all their watches are COSC certified, adjusted to 5 positions, etc etc. They do a fair bit of complex machining and finishing on their cases, which is why I like the way they look.. but until recently I felt their prices were prohibitive.

When it comes in I'll show you guys some pics ;)

Admin, you're a good man - Louis Moinet make some damn fine watches!!

Tempograph is very cool - but a little pricey, TwinTech in silver is very nice, but the chocolate for $2,000 more would likely be my choice - LE of 4!!!

Even the bugundy Datoscope - not really as out there as I was thinking, but a very nice watch.

For those interested......

Those look fantastic! I'd never even heard of Louis Moinet until now.

It looks like they use some ETAs as their base movements, but one or two seem to indicate something a little more interesting. Are some of them genuine in-house movements or just somewhat rare vintage movements? I might drop them a line to get some more info. They look very cool, and they are nicely sized too!

There's some stuff on the main site on movements - http://www.louismoinet.com/

I didn't post that for the watches as the catalogue is 90mb ( )

I'm trying to find out myself - some of those dial layouts imply some distinctly non standard things going on.

Those are interesting pieces! If Roff has checked off on them I think I will learn a little more. Sounds like they are on the way up, and for good reason!

 Wow...I love some of those pieces. I had never heard of them, either. The Datoscope, Spiroscope, and Variograph are particularly interesting!

I've been in contact with them, and like what I am hearing so far - I'll keep you in the loop.

Only tried one AD so far, but seems to be the typical situation with a niche brand and a major jeweller - the brand isn't important enough for the AD to be as responsive as they should be - especially for Canadian buyers and US dealers.

What do you think of the Perrelet lines. The double rotors are an interesting movement and not too dear.

So I guess if the Tokyoflash watches aren't your thing, then I guess it leaves this option out too:

I'm actually kinda particular to the "kerala trance"

I've looked at Perrelet a few times, but never really found one that really 'called' to me.

As for 'The One' - surprisingly not quite my thing

One that I have had my eye on for years, and I actually saw one at Rodeo Jewelles here in Vancouver, is the Longines Charles Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch, a good description of which can be found here:
http://www.happy-day.ch/news/luxury/the ... watch.html

and another very special one, my favourite, called the "Weems Second Setting" edition:
http://www.topperjewelers.com/watches/l ... 713.4.13.0

I especially love the lacquer dials, and the font they use for the numerals on these. The Charles Lindbergh Edition looks like it would wear really quite large. They both have case backs that are opened by means of a clasp, to reveal the movement. I believe the one that I saw retails for just over 5 grand, in Canadian Dollars of course. It also comes in a gold edition.
I actually like the Weems edition watch, just for the simplicity. Weems was an aviation pioneer, and had much to do with Charles Lindbergh, either he trained Lindbergh or vice versa. A lot of history with these watches. I really love the crown on these as well. They seem very reasonably priced for such specialty watches. Here is another link, with some info I found:
http://www.topperjewelers.com/watches/l ... 713.4.13.0

If I could afford it, I would get the Charles Lindbergh one in the window at Rodeo Jewellers. As it is, I am picking up an Omega Railmaster from there in a week or so, and that will pretty much take care of my watch budget for the next while.
Anyway, there are bits of info on both these watches on various websites. However, I find that even Longines AD's know little or nothing about the Weems edition.
Happy research and hunting!

Cheers,
Carl

I'm not sure that the Longines are unique enough for what I'm looking for at the moment, but the Lindbergh is a very nice look. I'm not sure that the Weems is differnet enough to take me to Longines (sorry - my watch snobbery again).

The Gevrils that you referenced in another thread are a little closer to what I am looking for, but I think Louis Moinet has spoilt me for others right now.

Very interesting to know that Louis Moinet was very well acquainted with Breguet... just checked out the website...

Indeed... that tempograph is so choice...
