Hi there, can anyone tell me when the production started for the steelfish? I can buy a steelfish from 2004 but i thought that the original production of it started in 2005... And if it started in 2005 what is wrong with this watch then?

Thanks

Raymond147.

The info on the site says 2005 for the original 42mm Steelfish but production probably would have started in 2004 for the 2005 year model.
You can date the watch in question using the date stamp between the lugs as shown in this link which BTW shows a 2004 Steelfish.

I'm not sure if exclusion of the date stamp would indicate a fake or not since it seems there is some controversy over the exact time that Breitling began this practice. However inclusion of the stamp does not necessarily prove authenticity either since there are replicas out there of the Steelfish that also have the date stamp. It might be a good idea to post a pic of the watch and let the experts take a look for you. The Steelfish is tough because it has one of the best replicas out there.

There is definitely confusion about when dates started, but I think that by 2004 they were pretty much all there. As br549 says, post some pictures.

Quite possibly but the experts will need some really good close up pics of the front and back of the watch.
One other thing. Is there any documentation with the watch such as a COSC or warranty card?

If the photos are decent.
If it's 1500m, 42mm, it's real.
