Well, this is a Breitling forum so don't expect too many pro-Rolex answers here. Opposite goes if you asked that question in a Rolex-forum. :)

Personally, I think Rolex make very good watches, but that they are overpriced. Too much is paid for the image. Can't do anything else than congratulate the PR department at Rolex though.

My extremely biast view is.... Breitling (suprised? ).

As much as I can appreciate the quality of Rolex's I prefer the design styles, model range and all things associated with the Breitling brand.

i have three dreams one breitling should upgrade their 316l steel to 904l steel....and second in future their resale values should appreciate like rolexes and third they should completely get into inhouse movements............
i hope this happenes in near future.... its ma real dream..... because breitling designs are any day better than rolexes.................................... :uplaugh:

I can't see resale values increase with 30% off retail. Perhaps the resale should be adjusted to "actual" retail. As for in house movement, the B01 most appealing aspect for me is the 70 hour reserve. As for the steel, I wonder what the real difference is.

Rolex or Breitling ? Simple : if you want to keep the watch for the rest of your life the choice is purely personal taste (Breitling = sportier Rolex = more classic). If you are planning on reselling the watch allways 100% go for the Rolex.

There is only one Rolex that I would consider as a purchase - Daytona.
As a gift? any of them - except the Leopard one.

I tried on a white Daytona once not too long ago and it felt like I was trying on a woman's watch compared to my EVO. No thanks

You know, a couple months ago I stopped through the local Rolex dealer and loved a two-tone Daytona with black pearl face. Very beautiful. $18,000. Now that I've got my Airwolf and TT rose gold Chrono Evo, I walked by yesterday and stopped in to see it again. Don't like it nearly as much, now, and it's not nearly as beefy and cool as my Chrono. Definitely prefer my Chrono.

I hear ya there. I have a Tag blue dial diamond bezel and it's a very nice watch to look at, but once I put it on I feel like I'm trasported back to the 80s. I've been back and forth at least a dozen times whether to keep or sell. If I could get a good part of my money back I'd put it towards another B. Probably won't be easy though.

I actually went to the dealer to check out the yachtmaster II a few months back, as it was the first rollie id seen in a while that really wowed me. Then they told me it was only available in gold or platinum (white gold? Dont remember).. The cheapest price of admission was something like $25,000... mmmmmmkay.....

I have to disagree with you guys about Rolex watches keeping their value.
The best (worst) example is the solid gold Prez.

The MSRP is somewhere north of 26000$. Anyone can pick up a good second hand PREZ for ~11000$; that's a 60% drop in value.

Want another example? The "mighty" SS SUB; MSRP north of 6000$.
Second hand one: 3800-4200$; that's a 33% drop

The DateJust? Just as bad  MSRP for a TT one ~8000$.
Second hand? 3500-4000$; that's a 55% drop
