As opposed to Driver8's last unfortunate post about the Zenith FrankenClock, I thought I would present you with something a bit more tastefull

Unfortunately, I have spent a large amount of my budget this year what with the BI, PAM233, and the TT Evo, so none of these are slated for 09 aquisition.

First up is the timeless classic, the IWC Portuguese Auto 7 days in white gold and with an adroise dial. Simply gorgeous.

Second is a watch that I have had my eye on for a good amount of time but got diverted from with a similar purchase. I still find myself craving this awesome watch and as similar as it is to my BI, I still want it. Of cource I am talking about the Big Pilot:

Yeah, it looks like I have IWC fever, something about the designs, workmanship, movements, history and the way they all come together that just gets me riled up!

Stunning watches

I've tried them both on (wishful thinking at the time) and, if I'm lucky, one day I might own one of them. I'd even settle for the SS version of the Port :)

Couldn't agree more. Absolutely stunning pieces!!! Drooled over them both again over the weekend and would also be more than happy to settle for the SS version of the Portuguese  One day!!!

Great presentation Altair! Very tasteful.

I completely agree with you that both of these are stunningly classic beauties Altair. Afterall, that's why I bought a Big Pilot! :D (Albeit the newer dial version, to the model in your pic).

Personally I'd love a Big Ingeniuer, but I'm finding myself wishing they did a special edition version with a small seconds at 9 like the Portuguese 7 Day. IWC have done a couple of special edition BP's for various of their Boutiques in recent years with the small seconds at 9, but so far no BI with the small seconds. Not that there's anything wrong with the standard BI at all - far from it in fact : it's just that I would like something a little different movement-wise compared to my BI.

(I still like the <deep breath> Zenith Defy Classic Open Multicity Grande Date though. ;) )

One hit and one miss for me there - the Portuguese is a great watch, although I would personally go for the Vintage Portofino as I am a fan of romans over arabics.

Altair, we have basically the EXACT same taste in watches. :D

I've been wearing a BP5004 for a month or so now and IWC is a stunning brand - such class. You must be wearing the BI all the time.

Gotta love that Porto. I tried on the complication version of the 7 day in WG recently (sorry I dont remember the name of this piece) - my god it was stunning.

Jay, I didn't know you'd got yourself a BP. Nice work

Have to admit a BP is calling to me. Maybe I can use my Pilot's Chrono plus either the Seamaster or the Speedy as a part trade for one.

They tend to do that! :) Mine is without doubt my favourite watch.

I'd go for that Portuguese but in the silver dial. However, this has taken my fancy, only 50 made, the price though at around $40,000 - $55,000 does not take my fancy!

Yeah I found that one a few weeks ago Stef ( viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11004 ), and yes I totally agree with you!

It's actually amazingly good value for what it is too.

I missed that post Driver8, and your picture is better than mine! If you get one, pop round with it so I can have a look, I'll make you a drink this time!

I'd LOVE to be getting one but, good value though it is, it's still WAY too much for me at the moment. You can still get the kettle on though!
