So my younger brother just had a very successful World Series of Poker and is in the mood for a new watch. He was roaming around one of the casinos and fell in love with a B4B Flying B Chrono w/ Diamond, Bronze Dial.

Can anyone help me out, because I cannot find a picture of a Flying B w/ Diamond which leads me to believe that the diamonds are aftermarket. If this is the case, I assume that the warranty would be voided?

Nice finds on the picture front Sharky................, but all of those are completely and utterly HIDEOUS! It's been a while since I last opened my Bentley catalogues and I'd almost forgotten how horrendous those diamondworks pieces can look. Where's Boney's puking emoticon when you need it?

I suppose those who say these are ugly never seen them in person?

I've sold a few and they are the most gorgeous watches. The pictures don't do a single bit of justice to them. If you're not into diamond watches, that's one thing, but you can hardly say they are ugly.

I believe a number of us have said just that. Perhaps ugly is the wrong word; Tasteless, personally humiliating, obscene, defiling..... Any of those better?
Yes, BTW, I have handled one in person and found that it amplified my previous statements. Much like there is little point in gold plating a rifle, I fail to understand -- or find the appeal -- in blinging the hell out of an otherwise highly attractive watch. But, that is simply one man's opinion. There are obviously enough who disagree to create a market for the montrosities.

I'm with you on this one as well Boney. I too have handled a Diamondworks....er... "creation" in the past, and I would personally be embarrassed to wear one out of the house. Hell, I even felt embarrassed being seen handling it in the shop! Now I'm not questioning the quality of the stones or the settings or the general workmanship involved - it's all top notch : it's just that they look UNBELIEVABLY brash and over the top IMHO. Compare to a Patek or a Lange & Sohne, and there's just no comparison in terms of class. There's something to be said for understated class. These Diamondworks pieces just shout, "HEY!!! LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!! I'VE GOT MONEY!!!". Yep...... and no class.

Noted and respected. However, how does wearing a 5970 or even 5159 not screaming that you have money? For those who knows these watches, very much so. It is a sense of taste, not class. Both have class, in their own way. Just because I am not attracted to most Pateks, doesn't mean I think they are ugly. They are just not me.

This is always a dangerous discussion when it comes down to taste. My personal barometer is what the average person would think.

If I were walking down the street wearing an expensive Patek, Lange, etc then I would expect an occasional glance from a watch afficionado and to be mobbed at my AD. If I were wearing a DiamondWorks or similar piece then I wouls expect glances from most everybody.

Personally, I'm not comfortable with that, and as a watch freak who cares nothing for diamonds I would much rather spend my money on a mechanical marvel than on come compressed carbon. I appreciate diamonds for what they are (and have considered them as an investment in the past), but they aren't right for my wrist.

Ok. I agree, not really my taste either, just trying to help my brother out. Thankfully, he is interested in one of the less tacky of the bunch. He likes a steel Flying B Chrono on leather. I am pretty sure its the one in the picture posted by txturbo, just the chrono version, and steel. The dial is copper, like the center of the one pictured, just all of it, I am pretty sure.

So I guess my questions are as follows - Is this thing coming from Breitling and then going to diamond works and being altered (thus no Breitling warranty)?

I am not here to argue his taste. I mean he is a pro gambler, is anyone suprised. I am just glad its not one with diamonds on the bracelet and all that awfulness.

Any additional info would be great.
