Would most of you guys go for the SuperOcean Steelfish or Colt Auto? One of the problems I am running into is the AD's don't seem to have all the different dial colors in the showcase (not that I can blame them)...and many times the pictures in the catalog aren't a good representation...at this point I think I am leaning towards the Colt with the silver dial. So which watch and dial color do u guys like. Thanks

I think it mostly depends on which one is the right size for you. I first thought the Steelfish was too big, so I got a Colt GMT. After a few months, though, I got a Steelfish which I now wear almost all the time because I now realize it is a better size for me. I like the looks of my Colt better, actually, but the Steelfish is just such an impressive watch to have on my wrist, I can't help but wear it.

Well....that and my wife now wears my Colt all the time until she gets the Cockpit Chrono that she is lusting after. I am starting to miss it!!

I love my fish. I like the size and weight and the dial is beautiful. I'm not a fan of the lighter dial with light hands because they seem hard to read.

At the risk of posting a cop-out response, which ever you like more is a really personal decision that only you can make.

For me, it would the Steelfish every single time.... but then I personally like watches that are at least 44mm in diameter. I've owned 3 Steelfishes over the years and not a single Colt.

In terms of dial colour, then all 'Fish colour combos look good IMHO. The silver can be a little harder to read, but on the other hand the silver makes it stand out compared to most diver's watches out there. That said, if you like the more traditional diver's watch "look", then black is the best way to go. The blue is quite dark, so it's more just of a variation on the traditional dark dial theme.

All are great, but at the end of the day, you will have to wear whatever you go for, so ony you can decide. Good luck!

I'm with Driver8 on this. It really doesn't matter what anyone else wears or likes - it's what you like that matters. Me personally, I prefer a smaller watch and I love my Colt.

I too was looking at both of those about a month ago. I liked the Colt dial better, but the size was the deal breaker because I wanted a bigger watch. Had my wrist been 6.5" or so, I may have gone with the Colt. Didn't end up buying the Fish either, decided to compromise and bought a Blackbird. :D

Out of the two I personally prefer the Steelfish, with either a black or silver dial. I am a big fan of diving watches which certainly helps with the decision :D

Having said that there is nothing wrong at all with the Colt (obviously :D ) so I wish you the best of luck in choosing the model that you prefer the most.

Steelfish would be my choice, no doubt about it. I had one for a while, but I sold it because I didn't warm to the silver dial. I'd probably still have it if I'd chosen the black dial. If it's the size that's causing you doubt, I found that it didn't wear particularly large for a 44mm watch.

I have a Blue dial Steelfish. I thought it was big untill I got an 09 SS Yellow Seawolf. BIG Diference. Any way, I vote for the Steelfish. Nothing against the Colt. Everyone has their own favorite.

On second thought, I think you should get both!!! You might as well jump in. They are addicting. Plus, you could easily sell either on this forum if you don't like one of them. And there are AD contacts from here that will probably give a good deal for two watches.

I have to say the Colt with a silver face, but then I'm biased. I prefer the dial and it looks great with a brown leather strap or the professional bracelet.
