So I come across an EVO that seems 100% legit. I call the seller to ask if he had the papers and he says no, but he will meet me at any AD shop to confirm that the watch is authentic. Then he said that Breitling said he could send in his watch along with $50 and they will send back the watch with the papers. Does this sound right?

I don't believe Breitling re-issues the papers; its a one time thing :|

Call Breilting and find out for sure. That's the only way to know for sure. That's what I would do anyway.

Don't even waste your time calling Breitling, because this watch never had any papers, it's fake!

Please shed some light on that. It looks legit. Even has the blue tint from the light reflected off the sapphire crystal. I'm not saying your wrong, I just want you to clarify

The tick next to the 10 on the minute subdial looks too close, its a common flaw of the replica, but the pictures aren't very good so I could be wrong. The replica has an AR coating exactly like the real thing too, so that means nothing.

I could be wrong here, but it seems real sketchy. If its not a great deal I wouldn't bother. If its the deal of the century, you know somthing's up

And it could be the bad picture, but compare the datefont to this picture I found on this forum...

We'll let Sharky or bnewbie comment on authenticity because there are so many very good Evo fakes.

In terms of papers, you can't get a warranty - period. You can get a COSC certificate reissued, and that's likely what he's talking about with the $50. The AD will need the watch and they can arrange with Breitling for the COSC to be reissued to them. Instruction manuals come up on eBay, but your AD should be able to find one for you.

Of course that all depends on it being real. The AD can phone Breitling with the serial number and find out the model, dial colour and where and when first sold.

I mentioned this a few months back, but I called BUSA to try and get a replacement COSC issued and they said it could only be ordered by the AD who originally sold the watch. As the watch is 10 years old and was a gift purchased from the grey market, BUSA has no record of the original AD and said I am SoL in terms of getting a new COSC.

I'd be curious to hear if anyone has been successful in getting a new COSC from BUSA and, if so, how exactly they did so.

Sorry to slightly derail the OP and if the mods feel this isn't the right place please move/remove this post.

:real:

Best check on the EVO are the 1 and 59 second marks which are wrong on every replica I've seen. In the picture above, they are correct for the batons dial.

There is a table of how they should look on my Breitling Fake ID site (link in sig).

Driver8 would beg to differ.

For the BUSA / no COSC thing - I know that other Breitling national organisations will order without that restriction so I would try them - no idea why BUSA is being so difficult these days - yes they want to clamp down on grey market, but it's a bit inflexible.
