I can't help wondering; if some media puppet one day wears that abomination, will all Breitling owners be tarred with the same brush?!

Actually, here in China I see quite a few nouveau riche people (former farmers now own several factories for example) driving their Ferrari's around and sporting exactly this kind of obscene jewelery.
A lot of these people have the notion that if they just buy the most expensive things available, they will have the best.
You don't want to know how many rich people's homes here are decorated in tacky Renaissance style golden furniture. I even did a residential project where the people use 24K gold toilet scrubbers.

Lots of money, no class...
