Other than glare issues, are there any problems that could arise from removing that coating such as warranty (dont see how but you never know) or damage to the crystal itself?

You would definitely need to tell Breitling that it had deliberately been removed, otherwise they would recoat during servicing.

Not sure if they would be OK with it being removed or not - they seem to be getting better lately at accepting modifications.

It was my understanding that Breitling does not/cannot recoat your crystal. I have scratches on my AR coating and they only reccomended replacement of the crystal during service. The new crystal was $320, I did not replace yet. I might just remove the coating if the view is still good since the underside is still perfect.

Could you please elaborate on the recoat?

Also does everyone have scratches on their AR? It seems unavoidable if you wear your ling on an everyday basis.

You may be right. The coating can be reapplied, but the old one has to be removed first. Breitling probably just replace the crystal because it's easier.

Thanks for the clarification.

Probably has to do with cost rather than any other factor. I think the send it out to a special company to do the coating if I remember correctly. I don't believe they have the machinery required to do the coating at their service facilities.

@ OP. I still think that if you remove it, you'll regret it and there's no going back (unless you pay Breitling to replace the crystal).

A slight blue tinge is a small price to pay in terms of the better legibility IMO. I've owned a couple of Tag's, a Rolex and now a Doxa, all with AR on the inside only and the reflection is really an irritant for me.

With a very small amount of care, you should be able to gnerally avoid scratches to the crystal as it is pretty tough.

Up to you though.

Im pretty sure they show the process in one of the service videos. It appears to be done in house.
