I bought a single winder at Sharper Image a few years ago. It works fine, but the heavy Breitling makes it work hard and more noisy.

Same here, lucky I don't have a SA, it would torn apart my poor cheapo winder.

My cheap Costco winder does well with my Chronomat (which is in there most of the time as it is my "dress" watch). But it does make a bit more noise (straining?) with the SA in.

Santa brought me one of these winders. (The first one, NO LED's)
Question is which way does my Avenger Seawolf need to rotate?

Also the instruction manual for the winder says it should be on a timer and that my watch only needs 4 hours per day of winding, on this basis which "Function" do you guys recommend.

A. Rotate 33 seconds, rest for 12 minutes.
B. Rotate 10 minutes, rest 90 minutes.
C. Rotate 30 minutes, rest 3 hours.
D. Rotate 1 hour, Rest 3 hours.

Do you leave your winder switched on all the time your watch is on there?

Thanks in advance

So, 2 weeks on. This winder has been on all the time except for a few hours when i was actually out somewhere i wore the ling.

For my Seawolf the supplied pillow was a bit too small and the watch did hit the front Plexiglas, i did some fixing using a bit out of my old watch box. The watch is now very snug fitting in the winder.

The unit is SILENT....honestly, it is right by the side of my bed, and i am yet to hear it switch on.... I think the important bit is to have the watch as snug as possible so it won't rattle when it rotates. This will also help on the motor wear front.

So far, well worth the money my wife spent on it.....

Fairly simple programming - nothing configurable about direction and I personally hate winders that have double watch pillows - I'd be paranoid of scratches.

Good point. There are some better ones on the bay but I don't want to pay a grand for a winder. What if the watches were flipped one to the right the other to the left on each pod?

(this was suggested by someone before, just don't remember who).

I still wouldn't do it in case they moved - but that's just me.

How many watches do you need to have in a winder anyway?

Well just a couple for now, but I'm bound to get more. Plus I liked the display/storage at the bottom for watches that didn't need to be wound etc. I've been squirreling away a couple of pennies, I might pick up some more toys soon ;)

Guys,

I bought one very similar to this from this seller on Ebay (mine has a bigger window) click here! I've had it for a while now and it winds my 4 Breitlings and can store an additional 6 static watches. It has proved very reliable, it's virtually silent in operation and runs from battery or mains. I paid about £105 inc delivery.

The only issue I do have with it is that I didn't order the additional 'clamping technology' as they call it and my Navi World and SA are a struggle to fit on the cushions, they do with a bit or precision placing.

My NW and SA rotate clockwise on one winder and my SW and Cosmo rotate both ways on the other.

So far I've been very happy with it, although I am now one winder short for my Seiko automatic!!

Driver8, you are more than welcome to have a look at the winder in person if you are passing, you know where I live!

Stef
