Hey guys, just recently bought a EVO with the MOP dial... Beautiful watch, i have a few questions.

After the screws are locked down its 100% waterproof, what about wearing out on the beach and stuff? can i turn this into my everyday watch, Biking, golfing, surfing, etc... I used to have a navitimer and I was hesistant to do anything in it, I would only wear when I went out at night, I bought the evo so I can wear it a lot more..

What do you all think?

It is water resistant even if the pushers aren't screwed, just don't operate them under water.
It's suitable for almost all free activities, but I wouldn't play golf with it because of the impact.

Yes the EVO is waterproof and good for daily activities; an OK daily beater... but...
I personally don't have the heart to "abuse" such a beautiful timepiece

This is what I would/nt do with this EVO:

Biking===>>>YES
Golfing===>>NO (gets a little heavy after the 13th hole )
Surfing===>>NO (salt water)
Swimming (chlorine/salt)===>>NEVER

I hate to subject my Lings to premature wear and tear; I use my Oris (Ti) for these "strenuous" activities

You can really beat the hell out that watch if you so choose. I have to agree with Spartan though, I would never do anything that could wear on it though. You certainly can go to the beach with it. If you fall off your bike and scratch that baby up you not going to be a happy camper. However, it is a much different watch than the Navitimer, you can do just about everything you couldn't do with the Navitimer, swimming, surfing, etc.

For me I take my Ti Seawolf to the beach.

No salt or pool water??

I can maybe see salt water, but chlorine shouldnt bother it right?

You can go in both, but they will wear out the gaskets a little faster.

Any of them are fine, just make sure that it's rinsed well afterwards. Also, if you do it regularly the seals will need changing more frequently than regaular service intervals.

a bit hesistant taking a nice watch like that into the water and stuff..

when you say new gaskets and stuff, you mean like every 3-5 years getting it serviced?

If you regularly swim in salt or chlorinated water then you should get the gaskets changed every 12 months or so.

Im still stuck on the whole golfing thing. I use my skyland while playing golf and have never had any problem. In fact, ive yet to ever hear of even one person having any issues from golfing.

I read an article a little while back that explained the way that their cases work to deal with the g-forces - they have put a lot of science into measuring the forces involved.

For ~7 years I wore my Rolex SUB on the Golf Course with absolutely no problems (I never even though about it)....
Never had an issue.....

I golfed in my EVO last week and had no problems. I don't think the impact from hitting the ball is enough to damage your watch. There used to be advertisements with Tiger Woods playing golf in a Tag. If you can golf in a Tag I'm sure you can golf in Breitling

Bear in mind though that the Tiger Woods Tags are designed as golf watches..... and a lot of them are quartz.

Having said that, I personally think the jury's out on the whole golfing-impact thing. There have undoubtedly been problems for some people as I'm pretty sure it's not just some kind of horological urban myth! But I wouldn't be surprised if it depends on the type of movement you have in a watch. For example some of the more complex pieces with minute repeaters and perpetual calendars are probably more prone to impact issues than something like a simple time and date watch like a Steelfish. (I've not seen any actual data so I am only surmising here).

Personally I don't use any of my watches for sports or DIY as I'm of the opinion :- Why take the risk?

I've gone to the driving range and forgotten to take my CSO off, and upon impact i could feel the movement going nuts. I agree w/ D8 that I would never play sports with one on, to me it's taking a big risk IMO. But to get back to the original topic, the watch Chronomat can take a lot of abuse, it just depends how much you want to put it through. I can't wear watches playing sports, in fact i never even wore a watch until I graduated from college and stopped playing (american) football. This lovely addiction started about 4 years ago.
