Ahh, so it's not a case of what you buy, it's who you know!

At least I can say I'm consistently good to all my clients, unlike BUK! Now, where's my IWC catalogue................................they're almost at the same price level now anyway.......................

Stef

I dont think it that I think it comes down to if they know you and have spoken to you they know where to send the stuff,Have you ever spoken to BUK do they know which watches you own etc They cant send you stuff if they dont know who you are.

Yes, they have had my details several times in the past along with my serial numbers. I was told they don't hold that kind of information or run any kind of registration/loyalty scheme in the UK.

Whilst I understand that Breitling may sell a lot of watches, it is loyal brand watch enthusiasts like most of us here that keep their sales up, just the odd bit of acknowledgment here and there wouldn't go a miss. Especially when their prices have risen so sharply in the last 18 months!

It's obvious that the OP just simply wanted to get his pound of flesh from BUSA. His expectation was that they would protect there target demographic by fixing his watch for free. IE.. Blackmail

He is here simply to put "DONT BUY BREITLING" on the internet because he did not get what he wanted.

I used to be a proud owner of a Breitling Emergency. I bought the watch 1.5 years ago and last month while I was wearing the watch I noticed the cap on the transmitter had become dislodged. I am very protective of this watch and take very good care of it as I do with everything I own. I sent the watch in to have it repaired and I recieved a call from Lenkersdorfer of McLean VA. They informed me that Breitling had determined I had removed the cap and that the warranty was void. It cost $425.00 for the repairs, its not the cost that bothered me, its being called a liar that is ending my relationship with Breitling. I have actively been looking to purchase a Navitimer, but since this has happened I will now either buy a Rolex or an Omega. Lesson Learned, Buyer Beware.

P.S. I already had the watch in for repair last summer when the watch was six months old for a dead battery.

To fmattioli: I am really sorry about your bad experience, you should complain again with Breitling and give them a second chance. Print out the comments in this thread, put them in an envelope and send them to BUSA. Ask for a free replacement watch, resp. at least for a cancellation of the invoice they sent you.

To all the others: Take it easy, it's just one case and shit happens with every brand. The very most of us are extremely satisfied with Breitling, including me. So, just one or two or three angry and exaggerated comments won't spoil my joy with my Breiling.

After reading all of your replies I sat down and wrote a letter to Breitling USA. I received a quick response in the form of a phone call from the AD. They have agreed to cover the repairs for me and apologized for my inconvenience. I should have done this in the first place instead of venting here. I apologize if I offended anyone here. Lesson learned, A well written letter always helps! Thanks for all the help!

I am certainly the kind of person that needs to vent before I can sit down and write a well-reasoned epistle. It normally takes me 3 full drafts to tone it down appropriately, too (this is after venting to my hapless friends and coworkers).

I certainly learned a lot from reading about your experience and the discussion that ensued. And I am very glad it all worked out for you.
