Hi all,

Navitimer newbie here.

I just received a barely used Navitimer and after some inspection I had a few questions to the Breitling-knowledgeable.

First, I noticed that the tick marks from 25 to 60 on my bezel go all the way to the inner edge of the bezel, compared to some other bezels I've seen in pictures where the ticks marks stop just short of it. Is this a running change?
Take a look at these comparison pictures:

NOT my watch (Thanks to the original owner and photographer).
Tick marks from 25 to 60 does NOT go all the way down to the edge of the bezel.

MY watch.
The ticks marks go all the way.

I've noticed the self-winding mechanism is a bit louder than my Colt GMT or other auto watches. Is that typical of the Breitling 23 movement?
Also, after the watch is wound it sound and feels like it's quickly UNWINDING/WINDING by itself for a couple seconds. Normal?

Thanks in advance.

do you mean the gap between the dial and bezel?

as for the toick marks imo the bezel needs reseating on the first pic. looking down on the watch from directly above you shouldnt see a gap

I don't think he's talking about the gap where the bezels don't fit together perfectly, I think he's talking about the black tick mark itself. There is a hint of white space between the bottom of the tick mark and the corresponding mark on the inner bezel in the top picture (e.g. look at the marks at 45, and 46) whereas in the bottom picture the black tick mark of the outer bezel and the white tick mark of the inner bezel form one contiguous line with no space in between.

It could just be the angle of the camera, but I don't think so. As for it being a design change, I don't know too much about Navitimers, but I do know this forum is the only place in the the world where this conversation could happen.

That's very difficult to spot? How does it compare with mine? On the Automatice winding mine does exactly the same, it's part of the Navi's character...!

Maybe I'm not looking close enough, but I'm struggling to see the difference in those two pics as far as the ticks are concerned..... :?

LOL

I have finally realised what is being discussed here!

following on from the line graduations from the silver slide rule bezel.....the black line goes all the way to the edge of the silver slide rule...but on some graduations it stops just fractions of a millimeter short; leaving a tiny bit of silver in between.

I think thats is what is being discussed here?!

Seems like a printing tolerance issue.

Question is

"does it really matter?"

Yes, this is what I'm talking about.
Thanks for the replies so far, everyone.

Here's a close-up with a, hopefully, clearer explanation.

I'm not terribly worried about it, but I just thought I'd ask to see if other Navi owners have the same thing happening.

Also, if you have the Chronolog 08/09 then you can clearly see what I'm talking about in the large close-up picture of the Navitimer #401.
Maybe I'll contact Breitling to see what they have to say.
Cheers.

This sounds just like the issue of the slide rules etc not always lineing up exactly on spot in every location around the dial
