So many possibilities... this is the fun part, really, getting to look at lots of different models and make choices. The Oris is gone so now I can justify going ahead with this.
Jay - the MC GMT was the one I tried. It was awesome, but one for the future perhaps, right now I'm really after more of an everyday chrono with SS bracelet.
Carl - the Blackbird is a great suggestion, thanks. I'm not usually a fan of the crowns in the Windrider series, but the dial and big date on the BB are stunning and they might make up for that. Maybe I need to see one in person.
The Seamaster is still in contention (I really do love the design), and I'm thinking seriously about the Skyland too.
