I stopped by the local AD this afternoon and found myself lusting over an 09 Avenger Seawolf with Yellow dial on OR. My last stop there ended with the purchase of my second B, the 09 Steelfish with blue dial. It is funny (or terrible) how those watches talk to you under the glass!

Am I the only one?

I feel your pain. You are not alone. I don't even have one yet and I know I want more! BTW 09 Seawolf yellow dial is a sweet watch.

Hello,
Not much point buying from the AD all the time.... I mean - you can never buy from an AD and then resell later (say 6 months later) and get a profit. At best you would lose 20-30%.

You are really much better off buying on the used market.... then if you change/trade the loss will not be huge.

I remember when I was a novice.... making all these mistakes.....

Kind regards,

Oh Archie, always implying others don't know what they're doing and you are the expert.
Don't listen to him Rebel, Archie buys 770 pounds worth of washing powder through the internet, expecting to get a free LV suitcase with it :nana:

Anyway, I'm also addicted to watches now that I bought my first Breitling. Just stay away from those AD's and you'll be fine. If you do visit them, be sure to leave your wallet at home.

Weird how this topic got off on purchasing from AD's. Frankly, I would never buy a new Ling from anyone but an Authorized Dealer! But hey, that's just me... I like knowing what I purchase is legit, and has a full warranty. I've purchased used as well before, but usually from a source I trust, with a warranty, and completely serviced. Rolex and Panerai...

If it were not for my AD, I wouldn't get first dibs at the new stuff, and where would I go and drool over all these sweet Breitlings? Also, he usually makes it worth the visit!!!

I think that Archie wanted to say that you'll loose less with re-selling if you have bought a used watch and not a new one from an AD, which is correct.
I know that majority of people here buy from ADs, but there's a lot of folks that can't afford to buy from them, including me.
Sorry for the hijack.

I'm not too concerned about where the watch is purchases as long as they are legit. Its the love of the watch that matters not where it was purchased.
I personally like to support a local Authorized Dealer for the simply fact that there is no doubt about the authenticity of the watch and in some cases a valuable source of information.

AND I totally agree that there is something about walking into a AD and being overwhelmed by the showcase of beautiful watches!!!!

Sure, but the only AD in my city (one of three in my country) give max 10% discount (cash only) and with prices gone up this month, no way that I'll support that relationship.

Oh!!! In that case I guess you have to do what yo have to do. Unfortunately that is what happens when your resources are limited so competition is pretty much next to nothing. Fortunately for me I have about 7 or 8 AD within a 60 minute drive of my house and a 20 to 30% discount is not uncommon.

You are definitely not alone, rebel_1!
Went to my AD yesterday, just to have a look around. Mainly to see if they have a 125th Anniversary Navitimer yet. They did not. Buying one is out of the question for me, but I have to admit I am most curious to see the new Bracelet, although it will only be available on that model.
Even though I got a new watch only a couple of weeks ago, I never stop lusting. My AD has just introduced Perrelet watches, a line which I had never even heard of. They have some pretty exciting watches, my favourite being the "Regulator with Retrograde Hour". Here is a link to their website:
http://www.perrelet.com/en/gents-collec ... ur/A1041-1
The regulator displays the hours and minutes separately, then the hour hand jumps back after the twelfth our. Not the first retrograde, but I love how they do this one.
So many watches, so much time, and so little money!
Cheers,
Carl
