That model has always impressed me! I have looked at it on-and-off over the last couple of years myself. Definitely one of the best, and most unique models Breitling has. I just call it a "Special Edition". The layout of the dial is great, especially with the large date at 12 o'clock. One of my biggest pet peeves about most watches, is that the background on the date is always in white. This one is black, in keeping with the name of the watch, and also blends in with the dial.
Great choice!
Cheers,
Carl

Carl,

Never noticed the black on black before. Does make the numbers stand out even more. Great piece.

Very nice. I think the Blackbird is one of the mostly easily recognizable watches in the Breitling "fleet" due to the position of the date wheel and the sheer size of it too. It's also nice for us older guys who have difficulty seeing the smaller fonts. :D

Super watch. Congratulations. :lingsrock:

Thanks for all the comments.....i prefer the leather strap version of any watch, wasnt sure what the Blackbird would look like with a strap rather than a bracelet, but when it arrived i just knew.......brilliant!!!,going to start saving for the new seawolf(yellow face) now....
Does anyone know wether the Breitling leather straps(deployment) are waterproof/resistant??

No they aren't. Obviously OK for rain etc and can be cleaned carefully, but not treated for swimming etc.
