I'm about to pull the trigger on a new Airwolf, but I've got a great offer on a 2004 Emergency. Thoughts? Practically speaking, the decision seems easy...the Airwolf. But I've always wanted an Emergency. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Price is almost identical for each.

I'm just now wrapping up my high-end watch purchase decision. After looking at models available throughout the industry, I decided that as an aviator myself, Breitling best fit my needs, and inside Breitling, the Professional line. Top 3 contenders were Aerospace, Airwolf, and Emergency. I REALLY like the light weight of the Aerospace, I like the ELT function of the Emergency of course, but for me it really ended up coming down to the appearance and extra features of the Airwolf vs. Aerospace. (2009 Airwolf, that is, I really don't like the 2008 look) It has to be just personal preference, but to me the Aerospace dial looks a little plain in comparison to the Airwolf, and I personally view the Emergency as essentially an Aerospace with the ELT function.

I think we've each got an idea of a perfect watch in our minds that meets our own needs. For me, it would probably end up being an Airwolf, with the Emergency ELT, and a little lighter weight in the direction of an Aerospace. (won't be able to stay that lightweight with the ELT)

So for me, I've decided on a 2009 Airwolf, if that helps. I might be tempted if an Emergency were the same price as the Airwolf, but.... in the end, probably would still decide the same thing.

Bare in mind though the Emergency will always have a more expensive maintenance upkeep costs compared to the Airwolf.

Thanks for the great comments! The Emergency has a blue dial, but the Airwolf has the black dial (2008 version). I agree completely with everyone's comments. At the end of the day it's a personal choice, and I think the Emergency may lose this battle. Still such a great watch!! Airwolf, here we come. I'm thrilled. As a former AF aviator, I've always wanted to own a Breitling, but could not afford one on the AF salary.
