What this REALLY comes down to is expectation, and the fact that people do not understand processes and what is better for purpose.

If you think you're getting "ripped off" because some underused part isn't solid gold, you do not get that gold is always softer than steel and therefore not a great choice for a daily wearer. It doesn't matter if the gold starts to wear off a little; better that than part failure, which is more likely with a softer material. What solid gold watch wearers never tell you is the fact that their much more expensive piece also wears at a much higher rate--although I imagine not too many people wear a solid gold piece every day, so it probably matters little.

Ron and I have the same TT Crosswind, and have never had any issues with the gold pieces after eight years of use.

This is a non-issue that some people are getting hung up on. What I'm basically reading is that some people actually think they're paying for solid gold pieces and not getting them. Obviously you're getting exactly what you pay for.

That's a very good and accurate post IMO, Peezie.
