Hello all,

First time poster, long time "lurker" - great forum.

In the market for my second Breitling - a Navitimer World (black leather strap). Here in Australia dealing with a dealer who is refusing to give a firm price on what they want for one - just telling me it is very negotiable at the moment and to make my best offer...

Sticker price is about $8,300AUD (about $6,000US at the moment). Any ideas? I'm not desperate to get it right now, but if I can get it at a good price, might as well.

Cheers.

If the AD doesn’t have the watch in stock, then you are immediately at a disadvantage to secure the best deal.

As a general rule, 20% off the retail price is seen as a good deal – although in the current climate, with sales down, you could expect even 25-30%, especially for pieces which have been in stock for some time. So, assuming $8,300 AUD is the recommended retail price (which seems a bit high for a Navi World on leather), then you should be happy with anything less than $6640 AUD. I paid $7700 AUD for a Bentley GT on a bracelet a couple of years ago in Sydney, which was 20% off the marked price, and was a good deal at the time.

If you want a guaranteed price for a Navi World which the AD does not have in stock, it may be reasonable to put some money down – perhaps 25% down for a guaranteed 25% discount? The alternative is to call their bluff, and say, “OK, order one in, and then we’ll talk” - that's what I would do. I suspect ADs typically add up to 40% margin for high end time pieces, and given they rarely have anything near the knowledge of people such as some of the regular contributors to this site, there is no need to be shy in pushing for a good deal.

Good luck – definitely take you time on this one, as the Navi World has been around for a few years and there will definitely be Aussie ADs who’ve had this model in stock for some time. It’s a buyers’ market, and I would be surprised if you couldn’t get one for under $6K AUD.

Ya i would hope you can do better,a black Navi. World on black leather was offered at 3k CDN to me at a AD here in Toronto. If it was a white dial it would have been sold, but no white in stock. :|

Thanks guys, good help there.

After limited time shopping around today (time which should have been spent on other things), I managed to find a Black Navi World on a collapsable leather strap for 6K AUD. I think that might be hard to beat but I'm being patient...

I'm from Sydney.

Great deal on a Black Navi World on bracelet. Probably one of the toughest Navitimers to get in the USA now... :lingsrock:

Really? Lol. I'm already thinking about returning it and getting the SA! What do you think?

Trust me... The black Navi World on bracelet is a very tough watch to get... SA's on the other hand are a little easier depending on the dial... But if you don't love it, by all means get what you will be happy with!

Good Luck!

I just picked up my Navi World on bracelet 2 weeks ago. My AD in Boston didn't have a black dial one in stock (in any of it's 6 stores) so they had to go out and get one from BUSA. Took 3 weeks to get it.

I do a LOT of business with this AD, and was able to get to a 25% discount. They did say that they would have been able to do even better if they had already had one in stock.

By the way, I absolutely LOVE the watch.
