I guess it depends on which model you get. I have a Superocean Professional (all brushed steel) that has been through daily road patrols, fights, literally hundreds of SWAT callouts, tens of thousands of rounds fired, scrapes, dings, a few scratches, etc...... With all of the rough treatment it has been through, it's still driving on like a champ. I've had it serviced twice since I've had it (2001). The first service was a complete re-do. Came back looking brand new. The second was due to, and I'm guessing here, magnetization. It was running really fast. I'm still wearing it and I know where every ding came from. It kind of makes the watch more "me" if you will. I do take care and preventive measures, as anyone would with a timepiece they care about, such as keeping it clean, wearing gloves which cover the watch during training and operations (even though it's brushed steel, it could be a compromiser if the light hits it just right). My wife gave it to me as an anniversary gift. I had reservations about wearing it to work, at first, but realised that it is a very durable and tough piece, and it more than handles anything that can be dished out, at least by me, so far.

If it were a model more susceptible to your environment, I would just be very careful.

Enjoy your Breitling!!

I have one "sacrificial" watch that I wear every day at work. ( fyi, I work with my hands in an outside environment) My black dialed Steelfish. It has tons of scuffs, scrapes and dings and I still love it. Once I stopped worrying about the occational mark, I really started to enjoy my daily. Every so often I give it a good bath and as wrist length it looks pretty darn good. Eventually I plan on breaking out the dremel and cape cod cloths and polishing it up real good. That being said, I am very self concious about the rest of the collection when its thier turn to be worn.
