I was wearing my blacksteel yesterday, and totally forgot about it. I was moving some stuff around the basement and POW, smaked it against a brick wall. I am not talking about a small bump, this was a real humdinger against old bricks!! I couldnt look at it right away, a minute later I couldnt stand it and......nothing! Damn that blacksteel is TOUGH! I mean absolutely not a single scratch on the case! Amazing.

Anyway, as I took it off my hand that night and put in the watch box I noticed that the crown was chipped at the side! A very acceptable outcome as long as the case is scratch free. Any one know how much a blacksteel crown costs?

By the way, although the crown was chipped its black all the way through! I thought the material was a coating? Maybe the crown is the exception and is all blacksteel.

Hmm, that's interesting. I have a ding on one of the 'pseudo' rider tabs and that deifnitely shows steel, but maybe the crown is different construction. DLC is a surface treatment, but maybe the base metal is treated differently for the crown. Not sure how much they cost - Carl got quoted about Canadian $650 for a bezel if I remember correctly, so likely $100 or so.

Glad that the watch did well apart from the crown!

I´ve hit my B a few times on walls and always feel gutted checkin the damage... and nothing so far. Not on the cristal or steel. That´s incredible! These things really are like vaults.
