Cheers matey i feel much better now LOL.
Don't get me wrong i'm really happy with this watch and that why i paid extra to get the same model but with the Croc strap.
Just had about £5k to spend and i wanted to get a cool watch, think i made the right choice.
Does this rate good amongst the Breitlings?

I think they are gold plated on the TT and gold models. Happy to be proved wrong though if that's not the case though! :)

Just before a couple of years (I think cca. 10 +/-) Breitling declared to stop gold-plating and from then on everything which looks like gold IS gold. But be careful: many advertise for sale on the free market TT Chronomats and other Lings of the 1980's e. g. as "with gold rider-tabs" etc. which are unfortunately gold-plated. Not in the case of the current production.

Hope this helps.

Best regards: Robertus

Well, from what I understand from my AD I think the only Solid gold bits will be the rider tabs, the rest will be a thin layer of solid gold with a steel core. The pushers and crown will be as described above in the other posts. Although not solid it is still way thicker than plating as my AD was anxious to point out!
just found this on another forum, hope it is ok to post the link, Mods please remove it if not!
Scroll down the list till you get to bracelets and straps and click on the obvious question!

There's some misinformation here.

Breitling certainly does not make everything of solid gold as just suggested.

They no longer use gold plate, they use rolled gold - a laminated sheet of gold 20 microns thick bonded to a base metal - usually in industry, brass; most frequently on Breitlings, steel. Ron posted his excellent summary in another thread a couple of days ago. This is much more resilient than plating which is only a molecule thick and is less resilient as it is laid down a molecule at a time as opposed to a laminated sheet.

On a TT with steel bezel, as ianmedium says, only the rider tabs are solid gold.

I'm sure they still use plating on hands and markers though.

Correct - my bad - no plating on the outside.

Plating on hands is actually a good thing as it reduces weight (over rolled) and by extension improves the watch's running time as less energy is needed to move the hands.

As Driver8 stated right at the start of this thread - it's solid gold.
