The Datejust II, what an awesome watch! I wore three Datejusts for 12 years. It was my first nice watch, but it fell behind with the times and as I aproched my mid 20s and by wrist really grew it just wasnt for me, but the new one seems perfect. Great upgrade from the original.

My father adores the Datejust as well, so surprising him with one, cant wait!!!

Congrats, and I agree they are very nice... but they are small. Really small. You know that, right? ;)

At 41MM, and considering the fluted bezel, I am sure it will wear bigger than my Railmaster (current dress watch) so that is fine, I would preffer 43MM but 41 is not a deal breaker for me as long as it is a dressier watch. Sport models on the other hand just have to be 44MM for me.

I was actually considering the JLC Ultra Thin (40MM) as my new dress watch, as I opted against the IWC Portuguese this year (new thinsg are coming in 2010) but the Rolex hit a home run.

I like it! My Dad has one (original Date Adjust that is) and said that I will inherit it one day. I hope that doesn't happen for a very long time and that he enjoys it for many years to come. You will love it!

Very cool watch indeed! I'm hopefully going to be in the Market for a Rollie very soon!

Rolexes aren't to my taste, but I can certainly appreciate them for what they are - congratulations Altair.

Two of them you say, is this a 'his and hers' thing going on? If not then apparently impending marriage isn't crimping the watch style too badly

Just noticed that my comment was intended for your Omega thread.
I'm not a big Rollie fan.

As stated the second one is for my father, I have had soem cash set aside for some time with the intention of replacing his now aging Datejust, I went from SOH to Radiomir to Submariner, but they were all watches I would like, not him. This one seemes perfect.

I was actually going to spend the funds this year on a Breitling, but all the new modules left me nonplused, and this one is both dressy and casual so a logical choice.

Its retail is around 8500USD in the ME, quite the jump from the old DJ, seems all brands are seriousely raising prices. Odd considering the current market.

Really nice watch.
I still like the new GMTII-C though as the size wears larger, a good all round watch.
Your DAD will be well chuffed. :D
