The problem with that logic is that at the current exchange rate US$7,760 is C$9,600 give or take

since when does a bank go with the official rate? they always ad another 2-5 percentage points :x
a couple of weeks ago, the CIBC charged me ~32% 1700US cost me 2300 Can  ...I know cause I bought a watch from the US :D

Fair enough, but we aren't talking banks, we are talking about corporate pricing decisions. Historically Breitling has tried to keep the prices between Canada and the US in line. Lately that has shifted because of the recent, fairly dramatic decline in the C$, but that big a difference will just kill the Canadian dealer network because everyone will buy from the US.

BUSA has put a lot of pressure on Grigoros to influence the Canadian dealer network not to ship to US addresses, but if the situation were reversed BUSA wouldn't give two hoots about Grigoros.

Hey Roff,
Remember, not too long ago, when our dollar was 1.08U$ ? Obviously, I didn't react. I thought it would go much higher, so I didn't convert ANY C$ to U$.... And then suddenly...the big slide..... ....Man...it seems like yesterday

I agree, If I have an extra $7760.00 in my pocket it won't be going for the new Chronomat. Way to expensive IMO.

Just wait until the B01 makes its way into the Bentleys. Youll start liking the chronomat a whole lot more

Definitely. A Bentley Motors will probably be at least $11,000.

Has anyone considered how this will affect Breitlings bread & butter model, the Navitimer? Will the ETA 7753 ebauches eventually be replaced by the B01?
Hopefully it will remain unchanged aesthetically, but since its in a similar price range to the outgoing Chronomat, the B01 price hike would surely make the "new" Navitimer unaffordable to most???

Am I jumping the gun here or what?

I'm one of those who considers the Eta based movements to be just fine, with the launch of the B01 representing market reality as opposed to some great leap ahead.

But generally, with high end watches, they always cost more than we think! Let's face it, we all know the experience: you go into a nice store, see a cool new JLC or IWC and think $10-12K, and it's like $15 or 20K.

THEY ALWAYS COST MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can absolute rest assured that once the B01 makes it into other models, you will see the prices rise accordingly. And yes the B01 (or a future variant of it) will undoubtedly make it into the Navi as the ETA ebauchés will not be available.

I think we'd all love to think that Breitling won't mess with the Navi styling (and hopefully the fact that it wasn't a redesigned basel 09 piece will signify that this is the case), but given Breitling's recent design changes, who knows. Let's just keep everything crossed!

I would easily pay 11,000 for a 6.75. I think in my eyes its a 15,000$ piece. Not because of the movement or anything just due to the fact taht I think its the most beautiful piece out there..Who knows what price I would stop at to get one (again)

What about Aeromarine line? One of Breitlings hottest (at the moment maybe even most sold) pieces is the SA. Their main selling point is bang for buck and it´s a really big bang. There isn´t any compromises in quality due to lower price for some reason??? Mostly the difference is in the styling which is top stuff too. I could´ve gone for a windrider but bought the AS over the Chronomat because I liked it more. I think that the whole Aeromarine line is so much more watch then the price suggests. Even with extra cost to use a variant of the B01 they would be priced very atractively. But still I believe in that category the price hike would put a lot of people off.

...Or will they at B find some other solution for the Avengers and rest of the line??? In any case by the end of the year I´ll be buying atleast one (Navitimer for a dress watch) or two (not sure yet) Lings with ETAs (nothing wrong with them IMO) before the B01 extra cost starts to spread. And it will spread, there´s no other choise, or is there??? Isn´t it supposed to happen slowly already during next year since ETA ebouches wont be available anymore?
