A few months ago I posted here about picking up a Portuguese but had to return it because of some missing paperwork. Since then I've picked up a couple Panerais (plug paneraisource.com  ) thanks to admin's videos and info. I did not see a point in having 2 handwound power reserves so I sold my 233 and today got the Port in the mail

Still can't decide whether I like the black or white face better but you can't really go wrong! I really love the display back and wish breitling would "bare" it a little, I don't care if it's just the valjoux movement.

I just tried this exact same watch on today and a nearby AD, what an absolute stunner of a watch! I really loved the way the sides are brushed and the dial, oh the dial  That silver in combination with the blued numbers and hands is one of the best combinations I have seen on any watch, really timeless classic, well done and an exqusit watch!

thanks ian it's stunning for sure. i find myself drawn to the classics of each line...port, navitimer, historic pams. just need to find a new strap/buckle for it...the deployant is killing me.

That's been my favourite Portuguese by a long way for some time now. The colour combo, the 7 day movement with the small seconds, the DB, I mean what's not to love. It's even a nice size for a Portuguese too.

I also love the way the movement (being so large) completely fills the case. No filler rings here!

A lovely lovely watch.

One thing though - I'm surprised you don't get on with the deployant. I assume it's the same as the one on my Big Pilot and I find that incredibly comfortable.

Can't really say it any better. A superb watch! Love the fact it's a DB as well

Really getting into the IWC's and the Portuguese Auto is way up there. I don't have any real doubts that I'll own one at some stage :D

Congratulations cxbxax and great pics!

My planned dress watch for a very long time - it's very nice, congratulations.

IWC has lost something in my books after the lack of customer service I experienced trying to get a catalogue out of them, but it's still a great watch.

thanks driver, tim, roff...

driver...completely agree with you, especially about the robustness of the movement that it fills up the entire back. about the deployant i guess i'm still not comfortable with it. watch is loose on my wrist and i don't feel like i'm having the proper support. i also need alot of force and twisting to open/close it up.

roff...you're well aware CS can be a hit or miss proposition. personally i've always had great success with CS when it comes to Breitling and Panerai. this watch is a beauty queen, but the movement running at +10 to +20sec a day is normal, so if you're uneasy about their service now you probably won't be able to avoid it with this watch :poke:

I love the Panerai, but the IWC is a stunner! I am also a big fan of the blue hands, Baume & Mercier do some very fine ones like that as well. As a matter of fact, they have a chronograph with a very similar layout in their Classica line.
A very elegant watch is that IWC. Love the colour on the dial as well.
Cheers,
Carl

You know, I just cannot get on with Deployants on leather either, every one I have tried and the one I have on my citizen minute repeater is painful to wear, I find the ears just cut into my wrist too much, I don't like the way they operate either, tang for me is simple, quick and comfortable.
I was checking out that watch strap manufacturer in Paris that custom makes straps, what a great place and I think a watch of your quality deserves something like that, I really do think the dark blue croco works wonderfully though, it highlights the blue numbersand hands!

thanks guys,

the panerai with the JLC movement is my favorite, but i haven't been able to put the 5001 down. check out the black dial version also, imo the black shines better on your wrist than the white/silver one...which looks great in pictures.

Very nice, congrats on the acquisition. I've tried on this one and the black-dial version (a bit of wishful thinking on my part at the time) and they're both stunning.
