Hello all,
about 4.5 months ago I bought a Chrono Evo as a gift to myself. I am deeply in love with it and baby it to the fullest. I will be going on vacation to St. Lucia in a couple of weeks and I was just wondering if anybody has any thoughts/experiences on what to and not to do with the watch (i.e. swim, play on the beach, take it down there at all, etc...). Any and all comments are appreciated.

I think your EVO would suvive any of those things u threw at it... but I don't like taking expensive watches on vacation out of the country, because customs can be a hassle. That's just me!

You know I had the same thoughts for a while, I just can't take my Lings or Rolexs etc diving.traveling or any activity that might degrade their condition. The solution for me was the Seamaster 300m GMT, affordable watch that will go the distance, 300m water proofing and GMT function make it perfect as a general beach/camping/traveling watch that also just hapens to be beutifull and suitible for alot of ocasions.

I am looking for a white dial, but might just go ahead and get the black dial if I can't find the white.

Probably more coming back, because that will see the expensive watch on your wrist and want to know where you got it from. If the Officer is really a douchebag, he will search your bag until he realizes you are telling the truth that you really did bring the watch on the trip and did not purchase it in St. Lucia. Because he will in fact not find anything of the sort

St. Lucia is a wonderful island. My wife and I stayed at Sandals Grande in 2005.

Taking a timepiece with you won't present any problems. In some cases you may have to remove it to be scanned at the airport, so just keep an eye on it. As for storage, most resorts have an in room safe if you prefer not to wear it to the beach. If you do, make sure you rinse in fresh water after a dive or warm, soapy water at night when you're ready to retire.

I'm in a similar situation, as I said before I baby the watch so I was thinking about taking one of my knock around watches down there (nothing nice like an omega though).

My gf and I are staying at the Windjammer resort, but I hear the Sandals Grande is beautiful.

Also, I travel for business frequently so I am used to taking my Evo off to be scanned and have learned to watch it like a hawk as it goes through. You can never be too careful.

Return trip sometimes customs can be annoying in Canada at least. It just depends on if you get picked for the cavity search.. in which case you will need to produce documents of the purchase locally or documents indicating the importation and payment of duties/taxes previous.

When I travel I wear the watch I'm going to take. I don't see why you would have any problems in customs with that. My Super Ocean Chrono can take any beating I can give it with 500m WR. Plus it still looks good all cleaned up. I'm well beyond worried about scratching it, it's already taken that beating.

I also think the Seawolf is well equiped for a light swim. Can anyone think of a way to test 3000m water resistance? I really want to know. I wish I could swim deep enough to see the bubbles come out of the release valve, I'd probably get really excited and drown.

This thought might in a way be relevant to the topic, so I post it here rather than creating a new one.

When I'm off for vacation or a business trip for a few days, I'd love to take several timepieces with me for the possibility to alternate. Something like the Breitling service case would be spot on, secure enough for my watch but still small enough (travelling with several original boxes is a bit bulky).

But, where can I get one? I've asked my AD if I might buy one from him, but he tells me they are for shipments between the AD and Breitling only. Is he wrong, or is there another place where I could buy one (or two)?

Here in Toulouse (France!) my AD gave me the 'service case' when he returned my Breitlings after a service - I can always ask him for one if you want one...

The case was mentionned in the service report "Your Breitling will be returned to you in a service case" so I can only assume it's common practice - at least here in France.
