I know a lot of you probably think I'm nuts for this but after 8 months of trying to get used to the heft of the SA I finally gave in and traded it for a new Airwolf. I really loved the design, dial and overall look of the SA but in the end, despite trying, I could never really get used to the weight and could never get comfortable with it on my 7.5" wrists. Still, at least I can now get round to re-painting all the door frames in my house ;)

I went to my favourite UK AD with the intention of getting a white dialed Airwolf, but after having compared it to the Black version side by side the black one just grabbed me and I have to admit I love it! Its really legible to me, and I like the way the LCD's seem to disappear if you want them to when you turn the display off. One concern I had was that the swirl on the case back may be a bit uncomfortable but after 24 hours constant wear (well i did take it off to shower) its proved unfounded, its really comfy to wear.

I'll probably look into getting a white dial chronomat or navitmer next as they are on my list when I have saved up, but for now I thought you may like to see some pics of it :)

While not generally being a quartz fan, I really do like the Airwolf and the black dial is a beauty. Congats!

I have to say I'm surprised you didn't get on with the SA on 7.5" wrists, but everyone's different. And if you didn't get on with it, then I for one don't think you're crazy for changing it at all.

Enjoy your 'Wolf in good health!

You bring up an interesting dilema. I'm getting an SA soon and I hope I don't have the same problem. My wrists are also 7.5 and when I tried on tv SA it did seem huge but I just thought it was so beautifull and I would get used to it. I wonder what the exchange policy is for ADs. I'm sure they vary by store.

By the way, nice watch!

I also have a 7.5" wrist and my SA fits perfectly! Yes, it is heavy and bold, but that is the point. They are, however, not for everyone and it's wise to go with a piece that you truly love. Congrats.

Thanks, I really appreciate the info and your perspective on the watches. I've heard others say that the Airwolf is too big/heavy (usually in comparison to the Aerospace) so it's good to hear you chose the Airwolf as a NOT bulky alternative to the SA.

I was also curious about the feel of the turbine-styled back against the wrist over time, so I'm glad you posted that. Please update with your thoughts as time goes on!

Thanks guys for the comments......

Re the SA size etc, yes it is big, bold and striking, I still love the dial and case design and I think it did fit on my 7.5 wrist fine as the curved lugs tend to wrap round the wrist (got some pics if anyone is interested). I think the problem was that I personally could never get used to the width and weight and after 12 hours or so I was glad to take it off, which was a real shame really so I ended up hardly wearing it :(.

Door handles and other stationary objects also tried their best to jump out and whack it, but it was a robust beast so did not get battle scarred apart from the 'chimney' on the case which had a few small marks. I tried wearing it slightly looser but then it rolled and twisted about on my wrist and when I tried it tighter it got uncomfortable, so maybe I'm just a wuss :). I never tried it on an Ocean racer or a leather though, so its possible that would have helped maybe.

Yes the Airwolf is larger than the current Aerospace which is a very light and quite thin (titanium) watch, but to me it just feels really comfy and just 'right', hard to explain really. This is just a personal view of course as I know loads of people wear Super Avengers with none of the issues I had - well they were not really issues at the end of the day, just things I thought I could live with at the start but which eventually turned into minor annoyances (for me).

Whatever makes you happy buddy; at the end of the day, its your watch and you
have the final word.....BUT.....

My 7.75" wrist loves my Super Avenger. In fact, I got used to it right away.
Would you believe that I even wear it in bed? 100% comfortable.....
Sorry everyone, I couldn't resit, I just had to post a pic.I love this watch 8)

Your timepiece is supposed to feel good on your wrist and not bother with annoyances. So good call! Even though a quartz is not my watch of choise, the Airwolf is the the one to have. A very striking piece!
