I don't agree with you Roff & D8. I like the design and the features of the new B01, for me, there's enough differentiation from the ETAs. No, the new inhouse movement is not my stumbling block... A great, rugged movement, eliminating some weaknesses of the 7750, maintaining (or improving?) its ruggedness, durability, service-friendliness... A real sports engine. For me, that's fine. But...

Expectations may have been too high...

Not for me, honestly I didn't have ANY expectation... In a nutshell: I really like the new caliber B01 (as said in my post above), but I completely don't understand this new bezel layout (and the bezel is one of the main recognition features of Breitling). I think, that Breitling gambled away some chance with this new look...

But this thread is about the new caliber, which I really like... :yeahthat

What????? :banhim:

No, in all seriousness, as with anything in life it's each to their own. It'd be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.

The B01 is in the grand scheme of things, an intermediate step in the development of Breitling in-house design movements. To go from a ETA ebauche base modified movement to a radically different movement would be extremely risky, and would probably be beyond Breitling resources to successfully continue normal production. They will I think continue with a conservative but commercially safer strategy of incremental change. In ten years time, I bet Breitling will have a range of innovative and unique in-house movements in all their range, that will be the equal of todays Manifattura movements. It's a bit like steering a supertanker - it takes some time to get it where you want it...
