I agree with driver8 completely. The Steelfish is a brilliant watch. It feels really great to wear and certainly draws somw attention. It is a chunky watch that you will love wearing.

I do not like the Ti watches because they feel cheap to me. If you are spending $3000 on a watch you will want it to not only look expensive but feel expensive too. When I was in the market for a watch, I looked at the Seawolf aswell. The 2 things that put me off was the fact that it was made of Ti and that the dial is a bit too understated to me. It is very plain.

My next purchase will probably be the Super Avenger (acceldebt I blame you).

You cant go wrong with Breitling. It is in the high end luxury watch category and is something you can pass down the generations. Breitling is undoubtedly the only way to go when it comes to watches

Hello BreitEdi,

For tips regarding a first Breitling, it of course depends on a few variables like what type you are (sporty, classy...) and how much money you have to spend. Since you suggest the Seawolf I think you're looking for something more sporty than classy. I'd suggest either the Skyland or the Skyracer over the Seawolf, because I've realized I feel the dial of the Seawolf and/or the SuperOcean a little bit too plain.

Also, I'm a bit curious: Why was your earlier perception that Breitling wasn't a high quality watch? And what made you change your mind?

Well I love "classic" look, but yeah I more of a "sporty" man kind of watches
I love diving watches and more "tough" ones
As for why I didn't like Breitling - I guess it is more for the "bling"
I always thought of it as a "cheap" watch with a lot of "bling"
But, after reading many reviews, seeing them on some people and so on, I think I start to love them
Also - now days Omega/Rolex/IWC and so on are going for the sky on their $ (Rolex sub is like 5200$+ ?!)
So I think Breitling is still a very good Swis brand that keep a nice price getting a nice watch for 2000$ or less like the superocean is always a plus :)

I have the yellow avenger seawolf. I love this watch. The thickness is not a problem for me at all. You don't even notice it, for it's size it's very light. I have a 9" wrist, but I don't really like watches any larger the 45mm. This is the perfect size and weight (for me). I have the diver pro strap, which I usually wear in the summer, but for the winter I have a black calfskin with a deployant buckle.

If you really like the yellow face, then this is the one to go with (again IMO). It's readable in almost every scenario. The movement is acurate and quiet (if that matters to you), but not as accurate as say a caliber 13. The crown is huge and very easy to use, even with gloves on. I really could go on and on. I have to wear a suit to work and unless i have yellow on, i usually don't wear it. But other than that I have it on all the time. You can beat on this thing and it will keep on ticking. I would never trade mine in.

Holy cow - did you need to get extra links for the bracelet - I thought most bracelets were only designed to accommodate up to 8" or so.

One extra link all the way down the buckle or no extra links and on the last notch of the buckle. Well I still don't know what a full ling is, but lately its' been my chrono evo.

A FULL LING is a timepiece made by Breitling that meets the following criteria:

46mm or Larger.
24mm at the Lugs.
Must be accompanied by a bracelet.

Leather, rubber, and Croco straps are prohibited.

The SuperOcean is probably the best value, and it is an awesome looking watch. I got mine 10 years ago, and still love it. The steelfish is slightly bigger and certified for higher depths, a few hundred dollars more. The bracelet also slightly wider than the regular Super Ocean, gives it a bit huskier appearance.
Even the slightly smaller Colt is an excellent watch. I know that you don't want a quartz movement, but the Breitling Super Quartz is 10 times more accurate than a regular quartz watch, and also COSC Certified, which is quite unique for a quartz watch. Also it comes with an 8-year battery.
As far as I'm concerned, any Breitling watch is incredible, and good value compared to what's out there. Even though I don't have the resources to afford most of the more expensive models, I feel satisfied just to have a Breitling.
Cheers,
Carl

Take a look at the SuperOcean Steelfish, especially with the blue dial. I have only actually seen the black dial, but the blue looks even better in the pics. I really like the Steelfish, because it is just that much bigger than the SuperOcean which I now have, and the lug width/bracelet is 22mm instead of the 20mm on the SuperOcean. The whole watch has a wonderful presence to it, without being too large, and the extra bracelet width, even though just 2 mm. makes a difference also. I had been looking at chronographs, in particular the Blackberry, but I keep thinking they are just too much for me. The Steelfish fits the bill nicely, without a lot of complications, but with the presence of the larger watch. Can't wait for the New Year till I can get mine.
Whichever Breitling you get, you can't go wrong. I was checking out the Colt line as well, and really appealed to me, but I think just a bit too small. I love the Pilot bracelet that comes with the Blackberry, but the more I look at the watches, the more I like the PRO II looks, it looks a bit tougher. Also I will save 3 grand by getting the Steelfish over the Blackberry and will get a watch that I am just as happy with! That means I can get another one next year as well!
Cheers,
Carl
