Let's see what the consensus is on the new model. The model can be seen on Breitling.com

Lets be clear, size should not be a factor in this poll, your reply should reflect your thoughts on teh design over all.

Oops I just voted before reading your post that size was not a factor!

I voted "Not too bad, but nothing to get excited about.", but if I'd read your post first I would have voted "Undecided, would have to see it first." instead.

Yeah.. I was hoping for a 45.mm or 46mm version of the new chronomat. :(

I went nothing to get excited about.

I'm thinking that I have funds available for other things now.

I've just looked at it a little closer to give it a chance.

Nup.. it is terrible. Looks like a damn colt! (no offense to Colt owners of course).

I went for "Undecided, would have to see it first."

First impression was that I wanted a Breitling not a Tag Heur but, on closer inspection, there are some nice little features. The new bezel slopes up to one side of the rider tabs. From the press release:

"Displaying a characteristic flair for detail, Breitling has opted to facilitate handling by slightly “lowering” the upper surface of the bezel on the side where the finger rests when performing the unidirectional rotation."

Nice touch.

Ah, that explains why the pearl at 12 o'clock looked off centre on the rider tab - thanks

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Aside from the font, to me the bezel looks unbalanced - the 5 and 10 numerals take up so much less space than the other quadrants it just doesn't look right.

I know it's early days (hours) but I'm really getting more disappointed.

The roman dial looks way too squashed - just look at the IIII, the two tone with the gold bezel and black dial looks tolerable, but not buyable.

And the apparent lack of an LE is really surprising - I really thought they would do a first year LE. Lack of a DB is disappointing, but not really surprising.

The bezel on that TT version looks a little Bulgari-like to me.

Judging by the comments so far it looks like Breitling have lost a bit of their identity with this model. The comments seem to be that it, "Looks a bit like a <insert random watch brand here>". In fact, anything other than a Breitling.

What a pity. :(

But as I say, in a way it's a good thing for me as I have designs on a Panerai and a JLC, so this simply just frees up some cash.

Oh and incidentally, for those of you who have been waiting to see what Basel brings before buying your next piece, may I now draw your attention once more to the rather fantastic Bentley Le Mans for sale in the "For Sale" forum! :D
