Have you ever had a watch, or watch strap, that you loved for awhile, then all of a sudden - almost overnight - you got tired of it? Happened to me yesterday. I suddendly decided that I wanted to put the Diver Pro strap on my Seawolf, instead of the brown leather strap that I bought for it a couple of months ago.
Don't get me wrong: the Breitling leather straps are excellent quality. It is just the generous looking taper that I am getting tired of. I finally realized what it is, when I saw that the Diver Pro has the same taper - 22mm to 20mm - but it looks a lot wider. The leather ones have got the contrast stitching so far in from the edge that it gives the illusion of a much narrower strap width. For my taste in watches, particularly the Aeromarine line, I think it almost gives it too dressy a look. I have ordered an aftermarket leather strap for my Seawolf, and decided to put on the Diver Pro in the meantime. It looks great! I find that it gives the impression of having almost no taper at all, and looks a lot heftier and really suits the heavy watch.
I never thought that I would find myself getting an aftermarket strap, but there are so many excellent strap makers out there, and I really wanted to have the look of a wider strap. I will post some pics when the new strap arrives.
Cheers,
Carl

One in a while I decide to throw the diver pro on my skyland, only to take it off after a day or two and put the pro II back on. The pro II is just too damn awesome.

Yes that's true I have gone through 3 straps on my colt. The proII, a black leather, and now a blue diver. But they will all come back around.

Are you kidding me? I change straps twise a day

Its just so much fun to try on new looks, the right strap can give the watch an entirely different personality, and the after market strap makers can offer some great products at a comparatively better price point.

I agree completely with Altair, even if I don't change that often. It's normal to want variety!

By contrast I rarely change my straps. I tend to get it into my head what I want and then that's generally it. Nothing wrong with changing straps, but it's just not really me.

You'll go back to it, that's why it's great to have options ;)

The Ocean Racer seems even wider than the Diver Pro... to me.
