Set three different watches the other day. Used the US Atomic clock in Colorado. Days have passed and the Breitling, a current Cossie is leading the pack. All seem to be within a second to 2 seconds + per day. Without lab equipment really can't tell. The one thing I can tell is the Breitling at this stage is holding to best time. Time will tell. :lingsrock:

The two other brands are a ref 14060M COSC Submariner ( no date ) and my Omega US Special edition chronograph with the ca 3303 tweeked by my watchmaker. The Rolex was straight from box to wrist. My Omega had been sitting since 2005.

If your watch is only gaining a minute a week, it's only a little over 8.5 seconds. Now COSC sets their high standard at +6 per 24 hrs. Many watchmakers pay no attention to that as it is just a selling point. +8 seconds per 24 hours is close to 99% mechanically reliable. I set my daily users 5 minutes a head. Give your watch a couple of weeks and if it still bothers you, head to your watchmaker.

Sounds like the Omega may be at a bit of a disadvantage. Has it not run at all since 2005?
Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Give it some time. It probably will settle in. My Steelfish was running as fast as 45 seconds a day. Finally it settled down and now it is accurate to ~+0.5 seconds a day.

Cheers

Haha, I do the same exact thing. People often comment that my "expensive" watches tell terrible time because they are always running fast. They dont realize that a watch can be set for any time the wearer chooses. This is also what has kept me from getting one of those radio controlled atomic watches. As it would automatically reset itself everyday.

I picked this technique up from a friend who got it when he was at Yale and was in some sort of secret society or something.

I thought that no date Subs aren't COSC.

All Rolex watches are now COSC certified, including the Sub no date. Word around the Rolex campfire is that this model is heading for the chopping block, which is weird, because it only recently became COSC certified.
