Hello all

I was at a certain local dealership today that sells a certain brand of watches to pick up a bracelet I had ordered. After completing my transaction I casually asked if they had heard any news about a certain newly announced in-house movement.

No specifics were disclosed, but the staff member at the dealership did say that a certain factory had been visited and that a new case that was quite similar to that of a Chronomat might be involved...

Well, that's my contribution to the cloud of vapor that the annual pre-Basel anticipation frenzy runs on

It certainly looks like it's going to be a Chronomat type watch - all of the indicators are pointing that way - I guess we find out Wednesday for sure.

Some people

I'll just be happy if there is a LE version of some sort.

Of course I'd be happier still if they bolt a bit of sapphire on the back so we can see what all of the fuss is about!!!

I find the Chronomat the perfect size for my wrists, but would not complain if it got a little larger... a Slightly updated case with a display back would be ideal. The display back would be more important to me than size changes.. I wanna see the new in house movement!

I don't think Breitling will dramaticly change the Chronomat, certinely not 46MM. They reached a near perfect balance on their flagship I would think they would be very carefull when modifying it, the current version in steel is impossible to keep in stock at my local AD as it is so popular in the ME and Asia in general (huge market, HK alone buys 16% of all world wide sales).

Probably will be 44-44.5MM size wise, though I hope they upgrade the finish to Bentley standards!

I think 46mm might be a little too big for the Chronomat.

Considering it's one of the most popular models in the collection, they need be careful about making drastic changes. I think an simple refinement of the current design, along with the previously mentioned display back, would suit quite nicely.

Is it even possible to have a display back and a WR of at least 300M? Their flagship needs to be a true sports watch, can't see them adding a display back to the Chronomat either.

Lets keep our expectations realistic, I would be happy with a 44MM Chronomat with an upgraded finish and a refined look.

Having a display back and high water resistance are not mutually exclusive. Panerai, for instance, produces many models that have both a 300M rating and a sapphire case back.
