:yeahthat

I have to use independents for servicing some of my vintage pieces, and I have had very good experience.

BUT I'll go Breitling every time that I have a choice.

The quality independent service center near me seems to do everything that Breitling appears to do in the video (which is quite a lot!). They completely disassemble, put everything in a sonic bath, replace all seals, re-regulate, etc. However, they actually charge nearly as much as Breitling does for this comprehensive service. So even if they touched Breitlings, I think you would only save $100 at most over BUSA (for a chronograph...non-chrono's would be even less savings), although it would be more convenient than having to go through the mail. I think this cost really is reflective of how much work goes into the process. Sure, you pay a premium to use a Breitling service center, but I don't think it is really all that much in the grand scheme of things.

As I said before, though, they absolutely refuse to touch any watch that they cannot order parts for. I would immediately suspect any repair shop that told you otherwise.

I have to agree with you Driver8, use Breitling and have a 1 year warranty on the service. The watch in question has all numbers intact so i should not be a problem.
