Sportback,

What model is that ? We need to identify this as the tolerable Panerai.

Good one Ian.

Though I am sure more than a few Panerais could grow on our friend.

Perhaps a little Flyback action? Or in a Rattrapante mood?

Now if bling is your thing, I am sure a rose gold polished Luminor with a brilliant blue dial will meet your fancy, maybe on a matching bracelet?

Hmmmmm, I think those are great Altair, but I think there's too much strap-action and case-brushing on most of them for Ling Man!

Driver8,

You are right about the case brushing and strap action but you forgot the SHEET METAL STAMPING around the crown ! I have a metallurgical background because my Dad owned and operated one of the largest Steel Treating operations in Detroit from the 40's into the mid 70's and my brother is a graduate metallurgical engineer. I spent the first 7 years of my adult life managing Steel Treating companies. Some Steel parts are forged, some are machined, some are cast, some are STAMPED like a cookie cutter and some are made on "headers" like wheel bolts. "Stampings" are the simplest and cheapest in most cases and just don't have the quality look of other parts that are machined. As I said it's basically a "cookie cutter" type of thing and they usually have rough edges and just don't look appealing and in many applications they don't need to. I have nothing against that apparatus that goes around the crown on the Panny's but it would be much more appealing if it was polished and even had machine rounded edges for a smoother more quality look. That little piece on there looks cheap like a common Stamping that would be used for an automotive application where nobody sees the stamped part such as inside the engine compartment or like a bumper plate.

I actually get what you are saying acceldebt, but I see it another way. The Crown protector is part of why I love Panerai, whith their large cases, made for the military history, and serious, functional look it feels like I am strapping a military instrument to my arm, wrist-testicles if you will.

I suppose I can put on some purdy diamonds on an extra shiny watch and go prancing around like a nancy boy, but I preffer my big bad Breitling and Panerais a bit on the masculine side. :lingsrock:  :panerai

OK Altair,

You have just proved my point and I can go along with that. If you like the "Military" look then you have it with the Panerai.
