Ok guys, so I picked up my Avenger Seawolf in stainless steel with grey dial a couple of weeks back, but this is the first opportunity Ive had to post some pics and my thoughts on the watch.

For starters this is one substantial watch!! Measuring 45.5mm in diameter and 18mm thick, it has a thick, heavy case that looks and feels like its bomb proof!! :guns: The design of the brushed surfaces completemented by the high polished sides of the case and bezel and the tops of the rider tabs and chimney flows nicely and gives it a dressed up yet rugged appearance. The large crown and knurling on it allows for easy winding and even easier time/date setting. It also screws down easily yet locks into place giving the impression that it will definitely withstand the extreme depths that it is rated to.

Image

The HEV (Helium Escapement Valve) is integrated cleanly into the case with no protusion outwards. This allows the watch to self regulate the helium release so that during decompression the built up gas does not blow the crystal or other parts of the watch apart.

Image

Dial: The layout of the dial is very utilitarian. No excessive writing or markings. Bright, clean and large stencil numbers assure legibility even at a quick glance. The red on the end of the second hand contrasts nicely to the slate grey backdrop. Im not sure if its a polished stainless steel or white gold around the outside of the hour and date markers, but it ties in the polished look nicely. What I do not like about the dial is the lack of lume. If were up to me, I would have made all the stencil numbers light up like the older SuperOceans. As it stands the tiny dots of lume arent nearly big enough. Moving onto the 12,6,and 9 hour markers. They are large with lots of room for lume, but they dont last long after being charged up. Its almost as if Breitling is using a less potent SuperLuminova paint or something. But thats the only thing I would change. Maybe its just me being spoiled by my Omegas.

Image

Bracelet: Not much to say here other than the Pro 2 is rock solid. The brushed finished makes it very resistant to scratches and the stainless steel adds weight giving it a very sturdy feeling. This bracelet was clearly designed for heavy use and even abuse. The clasp is just as solid as the rest of it, leaving no weak points. Great design and engineered well.

Image

Movement: Im not that savy when it comes to movements, thats more of Roff's thing. But the Avenger Seawolf is a Certified Chronometer, the Breitling B17 is a tried and true movement based up an ETA 2824-2, but revamped by Breitling. I dont have a way to track accuracy other than comparing it to my computer, but so far its been spot on. (As much as I can tell haha)

I absolutely love this watch. It has replaced my SuperOcean as my daily wearer. I would definitely give it a 10 out of 10!! I would also recommend the Seawolf to anyone looking for a tough, rugged, sporty watch, with a bushed finish.

An absolute beauty! The PRO II bracelet suits the grey dial beautifully, better than it does the black dial. I have the Seawolf with the black dial, and absolutely love the watch. It was a tossup between getting the black dial at my AD, or waiting for a grey one. I am not unhappy with the black at all.
It really is a heavy watch. But I wear mine every day, and now it hardly seems large any more. I got a leather strap for mine, which is incredibly comfortable. It's a Breitling strap, very well made, but I am starting to look at some aftermarket ones just for a little variety. I have never gone aftermarket before, as I kind of felt like a traitor. However, the watch is there to have fun with, and I like a watch strap with no taper.
Anyway, sorry, this is about you - not me!
Once I get talking.....
You made a great choice, and enjoy the new Seawolf!
Great photos, too!
Cheers,
Carl

Stunning watch, superb pics and great write up !

This watch has really pulled me in too.
The changes from the 2008 model have absolutely transformed this watch for me.
The look / design works really well and just looks amazing.

I have read a number of posts on this site recently and a lot of people are going for this model & I can understand why.

Great to hear someone else really enjoying their Seawolf.

Thanks for the feedback guys!! I was thinking of posting this in the reviews section, but was worried it wouldnt be up to snuff for that section. If someone knows how to move it and thinks it would be helpful there then go right ahead. (Im not sure how to do it myself) But thanks again for the compliments!!

Jonas you are going to love it. Im wearing mine right now as I type this response. It has replaced my SuperOcean as my daily wearer. I really cant say enough about it. I am actually considering getting another one with a blue face.

Mikey,

Thanks a lot for posting the review. I'm thinking of the black or blue dial when I get back to the US. Nice point about the lume. I was really liking the Skyland Avenger but wasn't crazy about not having the "real" wings like the Seawolf or my Chrono Evo. Wasn't sure about the brushed look either but I think I'm sold now. Thanks again.
