I've just bought my 1st breiitling chronomat evolution witht the daimond dial and bezel, i live in england and i bought it off ebay in the states, the ebay company had brilliant feedback and i got a really good deal, i recieved the watch and was so happy, better than i expected, until i noticed afer a few days that it was not keeping time perfectly, it seems to be about 5 seconds fast every 24 hours. i emailed the peson i bought it off and he gave me the following reply

Breitling watches are indeed not pinpoint precise (except for the quartz models).
My Navitimer world gains about 4 seconds a day, and I've had it for about a month. I've also heard from other members that their watches became a bit more accurate over time.
If the paperwork etc is ok, than you should be fine

It's a little more complicated than that......

First off, the e-mail you received is rubbish - the guy has no idea what he is talking about. You could spend $10 for a watch that is far more accurate than a watch that costs $500,000.

Now, your watch, in fact all mechanical Breitlings are certified by an independent body, the COSC, to be accurate to between -4 and +6 seconds a day. That is the most precise standard for any mechanical watch regardless of brand or price.

A new piece will tend to be slightly less accurate because it is still getting used to being run 24 / 7. After a month or so you should notice an improvement. You can also 'manage' the accuracy by the way that you leave the watch overnight. If you lay it flat on its back then it will run faster than if it lays on its side crown up. If you have been putting yours on its back then try it on the side (crown up please) and see what that does. The use of a watch winder is largely irrelevant, in fact it might even make it worse if it doesn't allow the mainspring to wind down.

If you still aren't happy with the accuracy then a watchmaker can regulate your watch for you. I have always had mine done for nothing, but apparently some UK ADs are now not willing to do that because of the possible need to replace teh gaskets to preserve the water resistance rating so you may have to take it to an independent and spend GBP20 - 30.

You may just need to give it some time to settle in. I bought a new Superocean Steelfish in August 2008 from an AD and saw variations in accuracy as much as 45 seconds in a day! I was on the verge of sending it in for repair when it started fuctioning correctly. Now approximately six months later it is accurate to +0.5 seconds per day and I couldn't be happier. Good Luck!

Yours in within COSC so it is fine, as roff said, give it a month and I think you will find it running around 2 seconds every 24 hours
here is a copy of the print put my AD gave me so that I could regulate it as Roff described, on the left side you can see the diagrams depicting the watch postions, to the right of them is the amount the watch advances or retards in that position! hope it helps!
