What are your thoughts between the two? They are the same case size, same stencil letters, the Skyland is a chrono and the dial a little more busy. I forget, but is the Skyland case all brushed and they Seawolf have a polished case and brushed bezel?
Which one looks more rugged to you? One you could put a distressed leather strap on...
Just wondering your thoughts...Both interest me.

Skyland is polished, seawolf is brushed (with polished case sides and bezel sides). The seawolf looks more rugged to me, but I own a Skyland. Both would look good with a variety of straps, but perhaps the seawolf would look better with a distressed one...I think...

Ok, so i looked at a few more (dozens) of photos and it looks like they both have a brushed bezel and polished case sides. RJ, does your Skyland (09) have a polished bezel as well?

I like the dull look of the Ti versions, but I like a heavy watch. Would it be possible to have a skyland completely brushed (case & bracelet)?

Unless you want or need a chronograph, I would go with the Seawolf. I had my Ocean Racer strap put on when I got it, and that looked outstanding. However, I decided to get a brown leather strap for it as well, and have now had that on it for a month or so. Like you, I am thinking about getting a little more rugged leather strap, and I think it would suit the watch beautifully. Having said that, the brown leather one I have looks great as well. My only complaint - if you could call it that - is that I wish the Avenger series had 24mm lugs instead of 22mm. If find that the Breitling leather strap does look a bit narrow on it. The OR and PRO II don't look as narrow. My strap has white stitching, though, and as it is about an eighth of an inch from the outside, it tends to give a narrower look. My thought is to get a more rugged strap, with no taper, that may give the illusion of being wider.
One guy at my AD has a Skyland, which he really likes. However, when I got my Seawolf he sort of indicated that he actually prefers it. If you haven't seen the Seawolf in person, make sure you see it as well as the Skyland before you make your decision.
By the way, on the site Paneraisource.com there is a section for aftermarket straps. They are mostly for Panerai, but there are some of the Panerai type straps that are made in 22mm width as well, and that I think would look great on the Skyland or Seawolf. My favourite is Greg Stevens Designs, but there are links to at least 15 different strap makers on there.
Here is a link to a post I did in the Gallery section, of my Seawolf with the brown leather. Although not as rugged looking as the type you would like, it will give you an idea of how leather looks on it.
In the end, both watches are great looking. I got a Skyland Blacksteel last year, which is a wonderful watch, but I don't wear it at all any more. The Seawolf seems to fill the bill for whatever I need.
The top of the case and top of the bezel are brushed, the sides are both polished. It is a great look!
Cheers,
Carl

The bezel is the same on both. Its polished on the sides and brushed on the top. The rider tabs are also polished.

Seawolf: Brushed bracelet, brushed top of bezel, brushed top of case. Polished sides of bezel, polished sides of case, polished rider tabs.
Skyland: Polished everything except for the top of the bezel.

Thanks guys for the replies and the great insight to both of these watches.
Is the brushed seawolf bracelet interchangable with the Skyland case? Just wondering if it would fit or not?

The Avenger Seawolf and Skyland both have the same lug width 22mm. Also, the end link which connects the bracelet to the lugs is the same on both of them. You can get either watch with whichever PRO II you like, brushed or polished. Generally, the Skyland is polished, except for the bezel on top, so it would be shown at the AD with a polished bracelet. The Seawolf has the brushed case on top, and I have seen it with the brushed bracelet. I had a notion that I would like to have my Seawolf brushed, ie the sides and the crown, but the way it is with the combination brushed/polished really looks great. If you haven't seen one, the pics don't do it justice. The dial, at least the black one, has quite a bit of polished silver on it, surrounding the markers at 12, 6 and 9 o'clock and also the calendar. It is a great constrast with the matte black finish on the dial.

Cheers,
Carl

No, it won't fit.

I stand corrected. I think that the link No. for the new Sweawolf is 147A, and the Skyland is 132A

Carl

It is listed on the Models section that they both use the Pro II bracelet...So why isn't it that they would fit? Is it a link that matches up to the case on the Skyland that would still be polished?
Confused a little..

They do both use the Pro II, but not all Pro IIs are identical. In the same way that bracelets come in different widths, they also have different end links to fit properly against the case. The end links are different between the two models.

It's just that the end lug that joins the bracelet to the lugs is a different shape/size. For example, I have a brused PRO II for my Steelfish, but my AD can order 2 new end lugs that will make it fit my Seawolf. I am not sure why the bracelet off an Avenger Seawolf would not fit an Avenger Skyland, but there must be something about the shape and size of the case at that point which is different. You should check with your AD about that. I would be surprised, though, if you could not get a brushed PRO II to fit the Skyland.

Cheers,
Carl

That would be a cool thing! I wish I could have a Skyland fully brushed by Breitling!
Off to the AD today!

A brushed bracelet on the skyland would probably look strange, since you would have a brushed bracelet surface matching up against the polished lugs. Ive never seen it, but thats my guess..

I just got an Avenger Skyland and it is really an amazing time piece. Very rugged and stylish, I would definitely recommend the Skyland.
