My wolf 4.0 winder has a choice of 600 or 900 turns not the recomended 800. Not sure which setting to use for my SA w/ B13 caliber movement?
Any thoughts?
Cory

I'd put it on 900 and don't forget that B13 should go clockwise.

Agree with bnewbie - you can't over wind an automatic so go 900.

I don't disagree with anyone above, but just for experimental reasons, try it on 600/day from stopped. Both my Evo and my SA will last more than 40 hours after 3 days on the winder at 650/day (lowest setting on my winder). They dont start moving for a couple hours after i turn the winder on from dead. My winder breaks up the 650/day turns into evenly spread 1 minute intervals over a day, so it takes a bit to kick the watches into action... (static vs kinetic friction, i'm sure). anyway, i put a digital AC timer on my winder, so it runs 72 hours on (@650 rev/day, 1 minute intervals, per the winder controls), and 24 hours off, and the SA and Evo are always ready to go at 650 rev/day. BTW, i have to set the B2 to 850 rev/day to stay alive on the same cycle. The B2 i set to alternate CCW and CW, the SA and EVO just CW. I put the digital timer on to supplement the winder box controls after i read a thread here (i think by Bronco) that talked about giving the watches some 'wind down' time. Anyway, everything above is great advice, but if you like to play around, i'd be interested in knowing if 600/day is on the wind-up side of the curve or wind-down side of the curve, if you know what i mean...

PS. what i mean is, at some number of turns per day, you are slowing the rate at which the main spring winds down by winding it just slightly less than the amount it unwinds as it ticks over the same time interval, and at some higher rate, you are winding the watch faster than it unwinds, eventually leaving it fully wound. There would be some magic number of turns per day that would keep the watch perpetually wound to the same degree... unfourtunately, that would be a moving target, with a different magic number for any given main spring wind position (although the spring rate is quite linear)... blah blah blah. for my winder, 650 (850 for the B2) turns per day is definitely on the 'wind-up' side of the curve, since i get full power reserve spec performance from dead after 36 hours on the winder.

My options were 640, 960 and 1440. I have it set to 960 8)
