I'm trying to do the same thing, but it's going to be tough. Even if you contact an AD and put a deposit on an LE the day it's announced you likely won't see a piece until late summer at the earliest.

Not sure I can wait that long!

Does anyone (and I'm thinking mainly of Roff here) know if Breitling are going to announce any changes to the Steelfish at Baselworld. My local AD has not heard of any upgrade or refinement. The last thing I want to do is get one now, only for Breitling to come out with a newer model in a couple of weeks!

Breitling are in full on Basel mode now - I'm getting absolutely nothing from my contacts. The only way we will hear something now is if someone in the distribution / retail network leaks, and I guess that the significant announcements now will wait until Basel - there may be a few rumours as we get close, but I don't think there will be anything of substance.

In terms of the Steelfish, your guess is as good as mine, but I would suggest that generally there will be less 'remodeling' this year - the focus will be on in house movement models (and I don't see the Steelfish as a candidate for that) and LEs. You may see new colours, and maybe some minor cosmetic changes to a few models - things like the revised dial on the Cockpit or the Baton SA from last year, but I don't think that there will be significant overhauls.

Thanks for your reply Roff. I'm of the same opinion that the current Steelfish is to "new" to be remodelled just yet, but just wanted to get someone else's view. I'm most probably going to wait the few weeks just to be 100% sure.

There's also the chance that any remodelling may not take my fancy anyway!

Does anyone have a picture or link to this in the rose gold? I'm interested to see how it came out. Also, any ideas on price of this model?

Thanks

I've not seen pictures of the RG - not sure they've been released yet.

List price on the Aero Racer is US$7,690

If you abo the newsletter on the breitling homepage, You will receive a few informations at the start of the basel fair (at least it was that way last year).

But I am quite sure, they will not bring too many new items, as of what I know, the new chronograph movement is more or less ready, but there is no watch for it ready, and I am not sure, if that will already be finished or in late finishing stage by Basel. When introducing a new chronograph movement, they would be stupid, if they would bring a new chronograph model with an old movement just before that (although You never know with the swiss...).

There might be a few new models on the simple, not chronographs or quartz watches.

In actual fact it wouldn't surprise me at all if there was no watch for the new movement. Carl F Bucherer did the same last year at Baselworld 08 when they brought out their new in-house movement the CFB A1000..... with no watch for it to go in! And as far as I know there's STILL no watch for it to go in almost a year later! Hopefully they'll have a case for it by basel this year as the CFB A1000 looks like a great movement.

But I digress : hopefully Breitling may be a little more advanced that Bucherer and have at least something with the new movement inside. Fingers crossed!

Personally I think, that they will present the new caliber including some new models casing the B01.
But these new models won't be available before summer.
Just my guesses...

If they've geared up to produce 50,000 units a year then I'm fairly certain that there will be a case for it. Wouldn't be surprised if the Basel piece was still pre-production, but we all know that pieces announced at Basel are always 'limited' availability at best until late summer so they have time.
