I am picking up on a thread around December, with owners experiences with faulty Navitimers. Are these problems just recently experienced or have they been there for a number of years?

My concern is I am about to make a purchase of the A23322 standard model, but am now worried that it's like playing 'ussin Roulette' as to whether you get a good or bad one. Is it better to hold off and see if Breitling sort out the quality issues?

Surely with this model they should have sorted out problems, it not like its brand new movement etc.

I would be grateful for some advice, words of encouragemt or warning! Thanks.

I'm not aware of any inherent problems. It's a mechanical device and it can go wrong, but I find Breitlings extremely high quality. There have been some comments about the second timezone hand on the World, but again nothing significant.

Of course the Navitimer is not as rugged as the Professional range, but then it's not designed to be.

If the worst does happen, I think that you'll find that Breitling will bend over backwards to solve the problem - and of course there is a two year warranty, but I wouldn't describe buying a Navitimer as playing Russian Roulette.

Thanks for the advice, If the worst does happen can you take it back to any AD (UK), even if you purchased from another?

Yes - it's a global warranty so any AD can assist.

I think you also should add that any AD are obliged to assist. I've unfortunately heard some friends going to the AD and their AD refused to handle the issue just because he hadn't sold the watches. In the store, they then made a phone call to the distributor to complain. It ended up with the AD getting a reprimand over the phone from the distributor. Just so that everyone know, you have the rights to get your watch handled at any AD.

Very true, although Breitling seem to be getting a little hypocritical here - many reports of BUSA refusing to touch non BUSA watches (i.e. watches originally sold outside of the US) in an attempt to try and control the grey market.

Clearly they don't have any authority to do that - whether warranty or otherwise, but it's happening.
