I tried doing a search on this topic but came up empty so plese bear with me if this has been asked before. I've noticed with watches for sale here and other places that the paperwork that comes with the watch sometimes has the model and serial numbers filled in by hand and other times they have been filled in by a printer. Why the inconsistency? Do some AD's follow different procedures or are some of these watches "fishy"? Also, why does some paperwork have the purchase date filled in but on other paperwork it is blank?

These probably seem like silly questions but I'm trying to do some specific homework before buying a watch.

All my 5 Breitling watches have warranty cards completed by hand. Several went already back to Breitling during the warranty period for adjustments. Never received comments or rejection to repair under warranty from Breitling.

I've never heard of the last page being printed - that's always been by hand in my experience. Some of the ADs have stamps with their name / address for the facing page while others write in by hand - either is fine.

In terms of blank dates, sometimes it's done by ADs in an attempt to be helpful so that if you have a problem with the watch 2 1/2 years after you buy it then you can fill in a date that suggests that the watch is still under warranty (i.e. less than 2 years since retail sale).

There is some suggestion that Breitling are now starting to put their foot down on this practice - understandable really.

I have two watches, one filled out by hand and one that is printed. I do not think that there is any issue as to how the numbers are there, as long as the numbers correlate to the watch.

My Le Mans which came from Japan was printed, while all my others from UK AD's were handwritten. (And before you ask, the Le Mans has been back to Breitling for a full service when I bought it, so it's perfectly genuine! )

Either printed or handwritten is fine - the numbers just have to match!

Maybe each one comes with a printed one, but the dealer also has a box of blank ones as well, in case they lose one or make a mistake or something? Either way, dont think it matters.

Don't think you can use generic ones because they have the numbers punched into them.

Mine has a rubber stamp mark on it and then the date and serial number handwritten in the spaces provided by the stamp!
