...which, in turn, has a silver lining!

I visited my AD last week to pick up the 2009 price list and began chatting about the EM that I bought from the shop last month. We were also talking about my wish list and which model I was going to go for next and being ever helpful, out came some of the models from the display. I pointed out the pre-loved Chrono Avenger in grey in the window, so out it came.

Not being a huge fan of titanium I was really impressed with it in the flesh. Titanium on a ti pro bracelet, grey dial, automatic, with matching UTC module to boot! It was in excellent condition, hardly a mark on the case or bracelet and with the UTC module, I was tempted. I would have preferred to buy a brand new one, but with the CA now out of production I knew it would be a monumental mission to find one (borne out by Vertigo's excellent story) so I began 'umming' and 'ahhing' over the little gem in my hands. My AD couldn't tell me if it had been serviced as it didn't come with papers but he guaranteed it to be genuine (well he wouldn't sell a fake would he?) and would supply it boxed and would locate an owners manual for me. I mentioned that I normally fully research any watch I buy but that I was smitten with this one so the discount was offered!

Taking a breath, I went to think about it for a while, so armed with the Blackberry I sat in the local pub with a couple of pints and mobile internet. An hour later........sold!

Back to the AD and the purchase was made. I was thrilled and couldn't wait to get it on my wrist.

Here's the downer! Out of the box less than half an hour after leaving the shop and.....MMMM BAD! NO TICK TOCK! I wound it...no joy. shook it...no joy. Tried everything I could...no joy, so it was back to the shop.

"It's got to go back to Breitling" was his response, which was what I was expecting anyway, "but it'll come back fully serviced with no cost to you"....RESULT! (the silver lining)

Should be ready in 3 or 4 weeks but I can hardly wait to collect it. Will post pics when it's back.

Cheers!

What a week for CA stories...

Mine certainly gets the most wrist time at the mo.

Enjoy it when it lands.

Congrats. It's never much fun having to wait (especially when you should be playing with your new toy), but like Mario said, it will be like new when it comes back.

Great story! Great watch! You'll be double-served at a good price: Exceptional model / titanium / with UTC module... quite unique... and: fully serviced: Great outcome. Enjoy the wait! :lingsrock:
