...I have heard rumours about Breitling "expanding their workshop" with several thousands of squaremeters.

Must be more than a marketing front?

What is Breitling going to do about the Superquarz movements? They are also provided by ETA. In-house Quarz movements?

Further: Kelek might be the solution to their movement problem - totally forgot 'bout them. But did they provide any movements since 1997?

Talked with a Breitling rep today. He has me all excited about the new in house movements. He didn't give me specifics as far as price but I got the impression it wont be as bad as we are thinking.

Just had it told to me on good authority that Breitling in fact manufactures ALL the Valjoux 775x series of movements in-house. We are talking about CNC machinery that they make exact 1:1 copies of the Valjoux movements. I am assuming the only way to tell if yours is a Breitling Chronometrie manufactured movement is to look for the ETA stamp on it.

As of now I dont have any information on how long they have been doing this. I will check.

However, this means that Breitling does have the machining capability to manufacture their own in-house movements for sure, it is just a matter of design.

That's interesting. The patents are long expired so it's entirely possible, and I knew that they remanufactured some of the parts to closer tolerances, but had no idea that they were producing all parts.

Well, if the new models go up in price 20-40% due to in house movements, I will just keep picking up some of the older models and "previously loved" models for less.

You guys are sneaky.. I do have 3 watches using the Valjoux 775x base, but I dont think I am going to open any of them lol :P

However, I am trying to get a handle on the dates, and it looks like there are some indications that Breitling was producing all caliber in-house, but not for sure. But it definately looks like the Valjoux 775x series have been produced in-house since around 2006.
