I know this has been discussed before but...

I'm getting tired of the blue dial of my SA. I want to change it to white. Can anyone give me an estimation (perhapes based on experience) on how much BUSA will charge me to get the watch serviced and dial changed?

Also, I have the old style dial with the small wings logo. If they change it to white will they automatically put on the newer dial or do you think I could request the older style if I want?

Not sure about BUSA but they are available from time to time on eBay for around $375

A service is going to run you $400 - $500. A dial is going to cost you an arm and a leg. Driver8 got a quote for a dial change on a Legende - GBP650

You are likely better off selling the blue and buying a white, but if you do go for a change I believe that they will only use one of the currently available ones - so you can still choose arabics or batons, but current style.

They also sell the baton style dials which cost a bit more.

But of course Breitling won't touch a dial bought off eBay and the question was about BUSA.

It's definitely going to be cheaper getting an independent watchmaker to do it using an eBay dial, but Breitling won't have a record of the change and there has been some anecdotal suggestion that if the watch is later sent to Breitling for service they will change it back to the original dial colour.

That wasn't neccessarily the response I was looking for....
I would only get the watch dial changed by BUSA... that way you know it is done right.

I like the blue but the white is more versitile. It goes with everything. The blue can only be worn with certain clothes.
Selling the blue and buying the white is not an option. The watch is older (from 05), on a pro I braclet, and is not exactly in pristine condition. I bought it used for $2500 in october. I wish I would have known about this forum as I could have gotten a newer SA in much better condition for a few hundred more. So I ultimately have to decide if changing the dial color is worth it. Back to the original issue, the cost...

So would everyone agree that i'm going to pay around $500-600 for the service and another $300 for the dial... all said and done around $800-$1000 for the switch by BUSA.
While i realize that another member was quoted 600 pounds to change the color on a bentley, which is a lot of money especially in dollars I think we can all agree that the dial for a bentley is going to be significantly more than for a SA.
I will eventually get around to calling them and seeing if I can get a quote.

Just looking under the buy/sell/trade section and there is a white faced/diamond bezel SA for sale on a pro I. The watch looks so good in white (diamond bezel aside). It just makes me that much more set on changing the color.

Sounds about right. Check with your AD, they will make a call to Breitling and get you an estimate. Getting the watch serviced is a good idea if it's a little beat up ;)

If they charge you that much make sure you get your original dial back. Then sell it on the bay, probably recoop a couple hundred back.

Sorry, $800 - $1,000 isn't close at all.

Breitling will insist on the service first - say $500 to be conservative.

They will then charge you for the dial at Breitling rates - say $500 again (likely more)

Then they will charge you for the work to replace (yes, I know that it's part of the servicing, but they'll charge.

You are looking at a minimum of $1,200 - likely more. Remember that Driver8 was quoted GBP650 - that's $1,000 or so plus the cost of servicing.

I also don't believe that BUSA will send you the original dial back, but no harm in asking.

Talked to BUSA.
The official word is that a white dial will cost around $610. The change requires a full service which is around $500 and that includes a charge for the hands which is aroudn $75. So the dial change is going to run (with taxes and shipping etc) probably close to a little less than $1400. Too much for me I think.... maybe I will one day but not anytime soon I dont think.

It's an unbelievable price isn't it. When I asked about a Monty Legende dial change (which they quoted at just over £600 GBP), the women I spoke to at BUK actually sounded a bit embarrassed to tell me! It seems they just want to discourage it for some reason by pricing it at such a ludicrous level.

Ouch! $1400 is steep. Yeah, I would have to lean towards selling the watch and buying a different one ;)
