I don't doubt Breitling items are built with the utmost quality in mind, but when I go to a place like Panatime and see 30 deployment buckles for under $40 it's just hard to swallow Breitlings $240 price. But I guess we all do... :(

I'm very much afraid there's only ONE ANSWER to it. You must keep it all original. 'Ling, 'Ling, 'Ling, my friend.

The Breitling deployment is a very fine piece of kit, for sure.....you'll live to regret a cheap imitation.

Obey your Colonel, or face a charge.

I'm not saying I would buy an aftermarket buckle. There's no point. I just don't like the price is all

You are, of course, quite correct In2. They do seem to demand a hefty wedge for the deployment, don't they? I kicked myself the other week when I was pipped to a tan croc deployment for my Skyland. It went for about 66% off in the end and was used as near as dammit. :(

Am I seeing those prices right? Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't the croc straps for deployant 420 USD just a few months ago? Today, they have jumped to 720 USD??? I just called the AD and they told me this so I ran a search on here to find this thread with the price list Mario posted. How can Breitling mark these up 76% during one of the worst global recessions ever?

I think you're comparing apples to oranges. I suspect that the $720 includes the deployant.

I thought the same thing at first. But the AD I spoke with today (one this forum knows well) assured me that $720 DOES NOT include the deployment clasp. Just the croc strap! The deployment clasp is an another $240!!! Of course, these are retail prices. But even after a slight discount, these prices have jumped into the clouds. :|

I just bought a black one with croc a few days ago. It came in today. Retail was $720 with deployment buckle. My latest price list is the one that says effective November 1, 2008. I'll have to check and see if there is another one out :?

Exactly! Thanks for setting me straight guys. I just checked my receipt from August for the brown croc strap & deployment clasp I purchased from this same AD. Retail was listed as $480 for the strap and $240 for the deployment clasp = $720!

You guys are right... $720 includes the clasp. What confused me is the AD assured me today that it doesn't even after I questioned them several times about this. It's time to check with another AD. I think they're either confused or they just don't want to sell me the strap separately. Which leads me to my next question...

can't the strap be sold separately from the clasp?
